The villa is finished to a very high standard and the outdoor seating areas and bbq are brilliant. There is also a view of the sea. The walk to the beach is along a road but very easy. Haris recommended a restaurant in the Port which was very nice and we also ate lunch on the beach at Karavostasi beach twice (the first one as you go down the steps to the beach). We preferred this bay to Livadi but you do have to drive there. We bought very nice meat from the butchers Haris recommended in the port. Rethymon old town is well worth a visit and we also went to Lake Kournas. We had a really relaxing stay and wish it could have been longer. At the time of our visit ( 29th Sept - 7th Oct 2025 ) the place was simply perfect, warm / hot sunny days and not overcrowded anywhere. We had a blissful stay and enjoyed the short walks in and out of town ... We also loved the little local 'chugga chug' train round all the bays, fabulous idea and always on time ! I particularly enjoyed feeding all the local cats every evening whilst hubby sat with a glass of wine at a nearby cafe / bar plenty of little supermarkets everywhere, a smaller but ample choice of places to eat, and all of the little bays in Balion were really nice 👍♥️Guest review byDonnaGermany - 10.0

This is quite an expensive area to stay in, with no chain supermarkets nearby and fully privatized beaches. However, the surroundings are extremely beautiful. There’s a bakery-coffee shop that’s great for local baked goods and budget-friendly coffees and sandwiches.
