The old town and harbour are stunning- really picturesque with a happy, vibrant vibe, lots to see and loads of small, independent shops, cafes and restaurants. The challenge is trying to find one’s way back to any particular shop, as the Old Town is such a maze of narrow cobbled streets with quaint, pretty houses. My favourite place in Crete, it can be whatever you want it to be: quiet and slow, fast and adventurous, relaxing but all the time excellent food. Pick your places by checking reviews and you'll not be disappointed. My favourite restaurants in the city are Tamam, Ginger Concept, Salis, though the list can go on. Places to go out for drinks: The Botanist, Sinagogi or any of the places around EMPRIME on Potie street. Outside the city centre don't miss Periplous, loved the food quality and view and somehow I always end up at Almyriki in Stavros, the view and food are to die for, the beach is just in front. I can go on with so many other places, but it's best to discover and make your own favourites. Getting around the city is easy by walking, however you need a car or scooter to go to beaches outside the city and to visit other small villages.Guest review byCatRomania - 10.0

Lovely place, very historic, did a lot of walking in both directions from the old town. Bars and restaurants were mostly excellent and not badly priced. Easy to get up the coast on the bus, our accommodation was an ideal location for the bus station and it cost only 5 euros to get to the airport. The Old Town of Chania is a great place to wander around, there are so many little streets lined with local restaurants, cafe's, craft shops, clothing and of course local food and drink. In the main, all the restaurants served quite similar food including Cretan Specials, but with their own individual twist to it. If you like Italian for a change, Veneto Ristorante Italiano is the one to go for, but you should book in advance if you want a specific time and no waiting around. This not just a Pizza restaurant, all their food is excellent and the waiters are a pleasure to deal with, so is the owner himself, quite a character. If you like historic locations, then this is a little gem, the Venetian Port/Harbour including lighthouse is a nice walk, also plenty of Bar / Restaurants to quench your this or hunger. In summary, this is a great place to relax in, take a boat trip or just have a wander, glad we chose Chania Old Town, it was a great week.Guest review byWayneUnited Kingdom - 10.0

The location was what attracted us - near the airport and right in the centre of Chania, so going out for dinner and seeing the town for one night was on our doorstep. The room was simple but stylish and comfortable. If we had been staying longer, there wouldn't have been sufficient hanging space to unpack, but it fitted the bill for us and was good value. It is near the beach where in our trip found the most diverse sea life but has also a huge pool.
