Attractive hilltop village with plenty of restaurants and shops and excellent walking, not least along the Lousios Gorge. Lots of "real" locals as well as tourists! And some fantastic jewellery shops with people trained in the local silversmith school in a nearby village. Dimitsana is a typical beautiful mountain village with very narrow, steep cobblestone streets. Very picturesque! We loved the experience. I feel like one doesn’t have a full picture of Greece without a visit to a hill town like Dimitsana. Lovely, lively, intriguing. Drive respectfully or not at all. We appreciated the helpfulness of our host. He directed us to a hike that we wanted to make and helped facilitate transportation so we could be dropped off at one end and hike back to the village. We enjoyed a traditional breakfast both of the mornings we stayed at the guesthouse. We stayed for a couple of nights as part of a Greek "road trip" in May, and it was a real highlight. The surrounding mountains are beautiful and a welcome change from the coast. There are several very nice tavernas in the town, including an excellent one just across the road from the hotel that has stunning views of the valley below.
