We loved the location of the Galaxy Hotel, the coffee machine in our room, the morning breakfast buffet, the comfortable bed, the gym, the pool area and the staff. Our room was small but everything was perfect. Our rental car was secure in the gated parking area, plus we were only 10 minutes from the Iraklio Airport for our early morning flight.

I liked everything - the hotel is brand new and clean, rooms are big, balcony is very nice and big. Food in the restaurant is very good too. The staff is very nice. But the most that I liked was the way how the manager solved some problems. He is very helpful.

The personal service from the staff at check in and checkout . Marialena provided excellent service . She organised transfers for us . We had a long hectic day getting to accomodation via ferry and were greeted with a welcoming smile and made to feel at home . Would not hesitate to book this accomodation again.

Beautiful apartment with super comfy bed and great shower. Reception staff were lovely and so helpful. The pool was nice and shaded (though this meant it never got warm!), a great quiet space in the middle of the city.

The Cradle of Minoan Civilisation

Nowadays known as the capital of the Greek island of Crete, Heraklion was once the centre of the Minoan civilisation and the port of the ancient Knossos. This stunning gem features rich history, outdoor markets and important archaeological sites.

    Heraklion town is an interesting place.

    Heraklion town is an interesting place. We did hop on hop off bus but there was not lot to see. We visited Knossos palace . We felt 3 days was ample . On our next visit we may visit the other towns in Crete.

    If you like to party, this is a great place with lots of...

    If you like to party, this is a great place with lots of bars and restaurants. The city however is quite dirty and the infrastructure seems to be falling apart. The locals we met were all very nice and helped us when we had questions or were lost.

    Heraklio is perfect for those who want to go sightseeing...

    Heraklio is perfect for those who want to go sightseeing rather than only beach. It is a bustling city with an excellent museum and good transport links. The bus timetables aren't the easiest to understand and if you want to really explore Crete you may wish to consider renting a car.

    The town was buzzing and full of life.

    The town was buzzing and full of life. Some excellent restaurants (peskesi a stand out) Beaches were stunning especially when blessed with perfect summer weather. BUT, the traffic is terrible, parking is difficult, road-rules are optional and the lane-ways are very narrow. Visiting Knossos is an absolute must.

    Heraklio was beautiful.

    Heraklio was beautiful. The archeological museum is incredible. The history musuem is likewise. The underpopularized The Museum of Ancient Technology was faciinating.......The city is a fine landing place to Crete and offers much more on its own, however we found the graffiti to be overwhelming. I do not believe the slander of it to reflective of the intellegence of the residents of the city - from my interactions. Moreover the beauty of the archetecture is marred by the slander perpetrated. I can only think that the building owners are overwhelmed by the constant repainting required. Hate speech is not free speech but rather incitement.
