Last year we stayed 2 nights, maybe next time we could stay longer, as it has everything you need for a cosy vacation, wonderful restaurants, friendly people, beaches around and in Kavala will make your summer vacation wonderful, in spring or autumn would it be also nice. Kavala isn't your usual Greek holiday destination.
Kavala isn't your usual Greek holiday destination. It's a working port and town and not so full of tourists. It has beaches to either side which are very nice. The Fortress and the old town are great to explore with lots of bars and restaurants. A two or three night stay would be long enough. There are some steep walking areas and the traffic is horrendous. Amazing city and vibrant during the day and night with a lot of restaurants and taverns and happy people. I come from Bucharest Romania and if you like Bucharest old city center then you will love Kavala because all the city is like that. On every corner you can taste Frape Cafe, which by the way is incredibly good and of course you cannot leave without eating definitely pork gyros.
