Absolutely fantastic city for culture, history, and to enjoy the Danube. The city is buzzing with music and art - we pretty much had live music every night over dinner. The Fisherman's Bastion and the Matthias Church were absolute highlights. The parliament building is the most beautiful parliament building you'll ever see. The cruise is super worth it. I absolutely love Budapest – the city is full of life, history, and beautiful architecture. Walking along the Danube and exploring both Buda and Pest is always a special experience. Every district in Budapest has its own soul and unique vibe, both day and night, even outside the center. Danube river cruises.
Danube river cruises. Godollo royal palace was amazing if you are into the history of the Habsburgs. City park was lovely with autumn colours - there was even a "balloon flight" which we enjoyed. Buda was very historic (we stayed in Pest) - the open top Red Sightseeing Buses are very good value and an excellent way to get bearings.
