With a dome reminiscent of Brunelleschi’s "The Duomo" in Florence, the Hungarian parliament building is undoubtedly the icon of Budapest. It sits majestically by the Danube, the river that both divides and unifies the 2 parts of this capital city: Buda and Pest.

Absolutely fantastic city for culture, history, and to enjoy the Danube. The city is buzzing with music and art - we pretty much had live music every night over dinner. The Fisherman's Bastion and the Matthias Church were absolute highlights. The parliament building is the most beautiful parliament building you'll ever see. The cruise is super worth it. I have now been twice and seen most of the cultural hotspots. This time we went to go to the ballet at the Opera HOuse. Performance very good and theatre very comfortable. One of the most beautiful places in Europe. Definitely recommend visiting. Most if not all people we met could speak very good English. It was easy to get around with the bus or metro. I absolutely love Budapest – the city is full of life, history, and beautiful architecture. Walking along the Danube and exploring both Buda and Pest is always a special experience. Every district in Budapest has its own soul and unique vibe, both day and night, even outside the center. Danube river cruises.
Danube river cruises. Godollo royal palace was amazing if you are into the history of the Habsburgs. City park was lovely with autumn colours - there was even a "balloon flight" which we enjoyed. Buda was very historic (we stayed in Pest) - the open top Red Sightseeing Buses are very good value and an excellent way to get bearings.
