The town is nicely situated near Szigetkoz, which is the island in the Danube with excellent nature, pleasant for hiking, riding the bicycle or canoe trip. The town center is small but picturesque, with the Leitha river running through. It also has a small castle with some university buildings. Special attractions are the Flexum thermal bath and spa facility. Although all this should be a great potential to the turism, there is no evidence of much effort to promote it. In the Tourist office, there is literally just one multilingual sort of tourist guide to the region. Others are mostly in hungarian, with no relations to the more information for e.g. renting the bicycles or kanoos. Tourist office could only offer us one telephone number of the local store who also rents bikes. The internet presentation of one of the local providers about canoe tours is almost useless and outdated. The second one is only in hungarian. The restorans close at 9:30 PM and the only bar in Centrum is open only from Thursday to Sunday. The Flexum thermal bath is nice but the service is mostly unfriendly, apart from the lack of foreign languages. You could book an entrance ticket and later realise that one of the pools is closed for "one, two or maybe three days", without any prior information and no excuse or refund. Some pools are dirty, with mold on the bottom. Some parts of the Flexum are newly decorated but others are old and outdated. This is a rather simple place to stay, but it is exactly what they position themselves for. You should not expect a fancy place from a motel, but it is a good place to stay if you are on the road and need to have a rest. Pros: parking and late check-in. Really helpful and nice. Cons: it is pretty hard to find the entrance, there is no breakfast (can understand that in a Motel, but the nearby restaurant can only serve breakfast after 11AM) and the non-personal toilet (the shower is in the room though). The spa is very good.
The spa is very good. It cannot beat the Széchenyi in Budapest, but a visit is worth the money. The city itself might offer some nice restaurants etc., but it strongly depends on your time of visit. During our visit on New Years Eve and New Year all the restaurants and shops were closed, leaving open only bars. I use to enjoy thermal spa in the Mosonmagyaróvár (Moson) city, it's close to Bratislava/Slovakia, and not far from my home in Central Moravia/Czech Republic. In fact, it's the cheapest thermal spa for myself. I was there # times and plan two more stays in next few months. It's perfect relax for me, tasty meal, good wine, simply perfect weekends or extended weekends. Evenings walks around the castle and it's garden are romantic. Pubs, restaurants and meal facilities are everywhere. They are cycle-paths around the city, perhaps I will enjoy my bicycle there in the future.Guest review bypsalCzech Republic - 8.0

I, like many other Austrians, went there primarily for dental care. The town center and the old fortress are picturesque, but obviously not well prepared for foreigners: Most exhibits in the two museums (one county-, one town-affiliated) are explained only in Hungarian, the staff is supportive but hardly masters any foreign language; in the bookshop on the main street nobody speaks English or German ... Centre of the town is a short walk away if you want to go for a walk or for food. There are also some small shops and a restaurant nearby. Double/twin room is standard size if not slightly bigger, bathroom the same. Making use of sauna, jacuzzi or a salt cave was already included if visiting the thermal spa isn't enough or you crave a little change. Food was sufficient and tasty. Beds comfortable.
