Nice hotel close to the airport, a 5-10 minute drive away. We stayed there twice at the beginning and end of our trip. We had good dinners and breakfasts. Very helpful staff. The room was clean, quiet and we loved watching TV in English. Shuttle service was splendid (there are set hours but the staff accommodated us) so arrange pick up and drop off in advance. We would definitely stay there again.

Everything from the reservation team, front desk team, f&b team, pool and gym team, airport transfer in and out, everyone was helpful and smooth., breakfast was the best! As a former manager in four and five star hotels details mean a lot to me. Apparently they also mean a lot at the JW Marriott as attention to detail was noticeable throughout the property. The entire front service staff was gracious and welcoming. The Bellman were always present at the curbside, greeting customers and promptly and efficiently handling luggage. I never had to open the door when going in and out as staff was always present to do so. The front office staff was prompt and efficient and made me feel like a welcome guest. We dined at the buffet for breakfast and dinner as well as prime steakhouse. Staff was cordial, attentive, and professional. Buffets were abundant and well maintained. Food was attractively presented, fresh, and delicious. I was also impressed with the high level of cleanliness, and the overall excellence of the housekeeping staff. Public areas were consistently well maintained and spotless, as was our guest room, which had a large variety of amenities. The fitness center featured over 20 new Life Fitness machines. They included aerobic and weightlifting machines. There were also free weights and a stairmaster. Every machine had a bottle of water. There was also a dispenser of cucumber water.I was also presented with a bottle of water and a towel upon entering. There was also an outdoor swimming pool sauna and steam room. They might be more expensive than other hotels however, completely worth it. I will stay in no other place in Medan now that I’ve been spoiled by the JW Marriott.

    Medan is an interesting city with a mix of different cultures - Batak, Javanse Achenese, Chinese. There are some excellent restaurants - in the old China Town. I recommend Cambridge Mall for Restaurants and Cinemas. I also recommend visiting Berastagi , 3 hours by car. A charming Hill station where they grow beautiful flowers and fruits.

    Medan is a big, noisy, dusty city.

    Medan is a big, noisy, dusty city. Nothing to do here or no memorable sights, although the mosques are pleasant to lok at. Enough shopping malls though to pass a day. Easy to get around as GRAB. Non meat eaters can find it difficult to find somewhere good to eat.

    We went to Medan solely so we could visit the Orangutans in the wild - we were totally successful in this enterprise. Only one day was required in visiting Mount Leuser National Park. Three tourist sites stood out for us - they could all be visited in one further full day: Tjong A Fie Mansion Maximum Palace Rahman International Wildlife Museum (quite expensive at Rp 300,000 each) We spent 6 nights in Medan - we could have done it all easily in 3 nights! Compared with other Far-East cities, Medan lags behind in tourism preparedness.

    Medan is such a healing place to go.

    Medan is such a healing place to go. Less than one hour flight from KUL-KNO and very peaceful in lake toba. I suggest to just spend time in Lake Toba as the place serve you with beautiful nature scenery that can calm your mind. If you wish to go travel immediately and on budget please consider Lake Toba.

    I think the restaurant should've open ealier cause I am really starving and craving for food in the morning. The people was nice and affable. When we asked questions, they wore a smile and answered patiently. The becak and angkut were great, l enjoyed the breeze and the city view. Deli Park was majestic ✨️ and also Tjong A Fie Mansion was spectacular and historical. What I like the most in Medan is definitely the Medan people! They are amiable, helpful snd loving ! A memorable trip indeed.

    Medan itself is not very inviting to visitors.

    Medan itself is not very inviting to visitors. I stay there only on my way or return from Lake Toba. The hotels in Medan are OK and I visited Aryaduta for many years already. Is value for money with a fantastic breakfast buffet. Rooms are always OK.

    Really great and quiet location un the outskirts of noisy and hot Medan city. Large and grean territory, excellent restaurant, always friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast boxes were provided in case of early departure even in case of late arrival and closing restaurant. Kid's shoes were repaired for free. Parking is provided, breakfast is really delicious. The hotel could be recommended as start point for trips through Northern Sumatra or as an intermediate point for tourists as well as for brief business visits.

    Best location, helpful staff n value for money. The best attraction in Medan Tjong A Fie Mansion is a mere 3 min walk away. Don’t miss this. Best Chinese food is found at Jln Surabaya area, 15 min walk. Tom & Jerry Medan Soto is also around there. Famous Tip Top is just opposite n Garuda Nasi Padang style Restn is 8 min walk but both are grossly overrated. The train station is only 15 min walk n the very comfy 40 min ride to the airport is only 50k IDR.
