It's perfect for a day with Family - i definitely recommend the boat ride, which can take 1hour or privately 1,2 or 3 hours. Great for walks/ runs along the river. Playground for kids and park just next to the train station. I had a choice to go to Dublin in the morning with my7 year old to spend time there until the evening (travel back home) or stay in Athy - stayed in Athy and had a great time, the more that my hotel (Market House B&B) kindly agreed for us to keep suitcases in the room so we had 'hands free'. The museum was not open yet but once it will be open it adds another attraction to the visit.

The house was very confortable and the hosts kind and helpful. We stayed there on a longer trip but we didn't visit Athy except for St Michael's Church in Barrowhouse (less than a km from the house). From there we went to the Wicklow Mountains and Glendalough in less than an hour, that's why we chose Athy for a night's sleep on our way. Our hosts made us wish to stay longer and get acquainted with them and their ponies, something our children would have gladly done.

Athy seems to be suffering from the amount of traffic flow through the high street...possible cause of the dereliction? A lot of shops and houses boarded up which did not make the town feel very safe although it did make an interesting photo opportunity More traffic on the canal would help reduce the smell as using the locks would move the water When the new by pass opens it should help remove the large number of lorries

Was staying for a wedding in Athy so ideal. Private lockable room When we stayed it was crazy weather so very hot - had to leave windows open Owner sent good comms and not much interaction The room is on 1st floor which is shared lobby for host bedroom. Nice location - felt safe Parking available Owner helped out to get shower working or if anything needed

A truly warm and genuine welcome from Raymond and Mary who made us feel home from home. This property will delight all historians, and those who appreciate a character property will not be disappointed. It is a few minutes from Athy, a quaint and typical town with gorgeous riverside walks. The grounds are spacious and quiet, well manicured and lush.

A 4 star + hotel, with a warm welcoming atmosphere, the rooms, reception, bar & Bistro areas spotlessly clean, staff are friendly and obliging. The breakfast is plentiful. Highly recommended.
