Cracking City of Craic
Welcoming Galway is a small city with fantastic nightlife and an infectious atmosphere. Outside of the Galway Arts Festival, there’s still plenty of live music in the Irish pubs to get the party started.
The Galway Races at Ballybrit Race Course west of Galway Airport attract a good crowd, as does Eyre Square, a green space with flags of previous ruling families who gave it its nickname - City of Tribes. To the south are cobbled streets housing brightly coloured shops and restaurants.
Sights in Galway include its cathedral and city museum which offers an interesting insight into the history of the city and Ireland. Lynch’s Castle is the last remaining 17th-century merchant house, and the Spanish Arch is a small section of city walls by the Corrib River, linking Galway Bay to huge Loch Corrib. Where river and ocean meet is Claddagh Park, a great spot for a picnic with a view.
Further around the coast is Salthill Promenade, home to Atlantaquaria, Ireland’s national aquarium, focussing on sealife off Irish shores. It’s a Christmas Day tradition to jump from Blackrock Diving Tower nearby into the icy Atlantic Ocean, though you may well spot some wag giving it a go.

Galway is a really nice town to find trad music, good drinks and good food. Lots of nice shops and the people are incredibly welcoming. Very beautiful scenery and located close to many must see places while in Ireland, Kylemore Abbey, Connemara National Park, The Burren, Cliffs of Moher the beautiful bay. Def worth the visit when you are in Western Ireland. Very easy to get around either by foot or car, plenty of parking available (parking garage in the city centre is perfect but not free) and so much see and do it's worth spending at least 2-3 days there if you can.Guest review byRitaUnited States - 10.0

Was in Galway two years ago but only had a day. The three nights with two full days was perfect. I visited the Galway City Museum, Spanish Arch, ate at Handsome Burger. I visited St. Nicholas Collegiate Church--lots of history there. I took the hop-on-hop off bus to get a better view of all the locations. Galway is a beautiful city with plenty to do and see. Staying close to the center will help avoid the traffic build up during the commute. The hotel overall was clean and modern and had a cool vibe. There is plenty to do with the swimming pool, sauna, steam room, and plunge barrels. A well-equipped gym with recovery aids and a Boditrax scanner. The two restaurants were also very nice, I tried food from both, and they met my expectations. Great place to relax.
