This is a true guesthouse, visitors are welcome guests in a private home, and the host is attentive and generous with his hospitality, happy to offer suggestions on visits, restaurants, and other practical information. The parking was ample, the sitting room cosy, especially since the host would be happy to lay out a fire in the marble fireplace. My room was large and my dog was welcome. I highly recommend this place as a base for excursions to most of Ireland due to the flexibility of the host and excellent access to the major motorways.

The hotel had excellent size rooms, was very clean, had old world charm and the staff were friendly, approachable and nothing was a bother to them - very quick to find solutions to any problems!! I’d also like to mention that the staff in Berty’s Bar were also excellent and it was a pleasure to go there for dinner and/or drinks!!

This was one of the nicest stays on our trip. Deirdre and Anthony were very welcoming. the hosts and the accommodations couldn’t have been nicer. we were even surprised that breakfast ingredients were provided. The little chalet was very comfortable and very quiet. waking to a field of frolicking lambs was the icing on the cake!

Kinnegad was the perfect spot to begin.

Kinnegad was the perfect spot to begin. It is relaxed and has several advantages. It is close to many walks and bigger towns eg Mullingar,, you can bus up to Dublin for the day very easily so no wrestling with the traffic or parking fees. The local pub “Scanlons” is a fabulous place to grab a meal and meet some of the locals (and the apple crumble was delicious).
