Guruvayur is mainly famous for Shri Krishna temple. This is a must visit place. However, there are many other places to visit like Temples, marine aquarium, backwater boating, beaches and other places. There are many options for vegetarian food near the temple. We travelled from Bangalore by road.
We travelled from Bangalore by road. Journey was 10 hours, roads are good. Upon reaching Guruvayoor we went to temple at 10 am, bought 1000 rs darshan tickets - per person. You can book tickets online and buy in the temple premises. But ticket counter has some timings. Please do not carry - phone, camera, bags to temple. They have a cloak room to deposit but is always crowded with long queues. With 1000 rs ticket we were lucky to finish Darshan in 30 mins. Divine darshan. We went to Elephant camp - it houses 40+ elephants and is treat to eyes and specially if you have kids. they will love it. Evening we visited Mammiyoor Shiva temple and Chamundershwari temple - they are close by. Later left to Chavakkad beach in the evening. Evening we went to Guruvayoor temple again but could not have darshan due to long queues and no tickets were available. Next day we did Naalambalangal - 4 temple circuit for Rama, Bharatha, Lakshmana and Shatrugna. Its very good. Also visited Kalady - birthplace of Shri Adi Shankaracharya. There is Sringeri mutt, Ramakrishna ashrama and Shankara Stambha.. All are must visit.Guest review byShilpaIndia - 8.0

As usual and as expected during the Vaisakha month, it was overcrowded. However, authorities were doing their best effectively at crowd and queue management, respecting the sentiments of devotees. Improved 3-storeyed car parking facility is extremely helpful as also new accommodation units and restaurants coming up as well as relaxed driving conditions thanks to the newly-opened East Nada flyover.Guest review byAnonymousIndia - 10.0

Very nice. Well organised Sri Krishna Swami Temple visit with special darshan ticket. Free darshan was also possible but may take 3 to 5 hours. Dress code was different than other temples. collect prasadam, it is included in special darshan ticket. All pujaris and staff members very helpful to provide guidance. This is a small temple town.
This is a small temple town. This time we went to the main Krishna temple (for which this town is known) and the Mammiyur Siva temple. There are many more. For a quick and easy commute, there are autorickshaws. The drivers charge according to what the fare meter shows. So, there is no need to haggle. There are plenty of affordable and good hotels for accommodation and also restaurants. There is a small railway station, but not many trains stop there. The nearest railway station is Thrissur, and it takes about an hour by car. There are both private and government buses, but they could be crowded at times.Guest review byPradeepIndia

The location is excellent, with easy access to the temple, which made our visit very convenient. The building is a bit old, and there is no in-house restaurant, but the rooms are big, clean, and comfortable, providing a pleasant stay overall. One area of improvement would be the internet facility, which could be faster and more reliable.
