We didn't have much time to spend here, however, just spending a couple of days at the hotel and walking around the area would be wonderful. It's a beautiful hotel and area to sit around and relax or soak in the hot tub admiring the amazing views.
The museum and some restaurants were closed when I went in March. There is definitely more to do in the summer months.

Siglufjordue is an interesting fishing village with a long history of herring fishing which is documented in the excellent museum opposite the waterfront. The drive along the north coast to get to the village was a bit hairy, but we drove back to Reykjavik via the equally scenic southern route which wound through the glacial valley between the mountains. I'm glad we were able to get to and back from Siglufjordur by different routes. The cafe at the Herring museum was very expensive as is most/all of Iceland - $85 Aussie for soup and a tasteless sandwich for 2 seemed very steep. Unfortunately, the fish and chip shop doesn't open on weekends which seems strange. We enjoyed excellent pizzas in TORGID, the yellow painted building on the quay across from the Siglo Hotel. Mine was Pepperoni and date!

Siglufjörður is a charming town located in a beautiful Icelandic fjord. We really enjoyed the herring museum and the folk music museum. It gave us a great glimpse into the culture of the area. Our hotel, Siglo Hotel, was beautiful - large comfortable rooms with lots of charm and great service!

We went to Siglufjordur because we saw it in the Netflix series Trapped. We were there for just one night. In retrospect I wished that we had stayed longer to see all of the sites. We did see the Herring Era musuem, but they also have a music museum which we did not have time for. The scenery is gorgeous.
