Wonderful city, not chaotic even if it is full of shops, restaurants and cafes. The centre pf the city is mostly pedestrian area all the day. The Aosta valley is an amazing part of Italy that folks from the US probably never visit and that is a shame. The views are stunning and you are extremely close to Mount Blanc (French spelling) and the border of France. Aosta is an amazing village in a stunning valley surrounded by beautiful mountains and filled with magical little corners and piazzas. You literally stumble on amazing Roman ruins and beautiful old buildings, even the shops on the most touristy area have amazing local products and surprising local handcraft. Aosta is situated in a beautiful valley in the Italian Alps. There are many, many activities available, from hiking in the mountains, exploring the side valleys and the Gran Paradiso National Park to visiting some of the 84 castles. Will defiantly visit again, hotel and staff were excellent and very helpful . I even got to practice some Italian, even the locals helped along and phrased when it was right and politely corrected when it was not quite correct. We had a family room and it was a good size, great bathroom with bath. Housekeeping was excellent, front of house staff was excellent. Breakfast was lovely. The hotel is in a great location - doesnt look like much in a way but it is close to the Ancient Roman city centre, the bus and train and the Aosta - Pila gondola.
