FAQs about hotels in Florence

An Italian Masterpiece

Best-known for the stunning Duomo, Florence is full of amazing buildings and its historic center. The Ponte Vecchio, a 14th-century bridge holding a multitude of shops on its edges is a stunning example and provides a truly unforgettable view.

Dig into more of the city’s historical past at the Basilica of Santa Croce, a Franciscan church full of great artwork and the burial place of Italian greats: Michelangelo and Galileo. The Uffizi Gallery is one of the world’s finest art museums and the Pitti Palace is not far behind.

For great dining, the Santa Croce district has countless options and the unique lampredotto is Florentine fast-food with a 1000-year old history. Many consider the local gelato, Italian ice-cream, to be the best in the world.

The beauty and flavours of Florence are just a 15-minute train ride from the Amerigo Vespucci International Airport. Whether you’re looking for a room with a view at a cosy B&B, a luxury hotel or an intimate guesthouse, Booking.com has the perfect accommodation for your Florence adventure.

Florence is full of wonderful things and tourists. If you can tolerate swarming legions of tourists blocking the streets and standing in lines for all the major sites there are many spectacular things to see in Florence that reward the effort, but be prepared for the crowds...

Florence is truly wonderful and there are so many places to visit and things to see and do. Everything is within a 20 minute walk of wherever you are. The queues are very long and even with Skip the Queue tickets there are wait periods of over an hour. The Uffizi Gsllery wait was exceptionally long There are wonderful places to eat and to cater to all tastes and budgets, local wild boar dishes and Pastacherias are very yummy I. Wonderful views of the city from Plaza Michelangelo.

I've been to Florence before and it is amazing if you love history and art as I do. The problem is that everyone knows about it and the streets of the historic center are packed with tourists and getting into sights can mean a long wait and crowded venues. It's worth coming but pack your patience, too.

We liked dinning out in the squares at night watching the world go by. The buildings were interesting particularly on the outside. It was good to wander some of the alleyways looking at the shops, buildings and markets. We thought our two and half days was the right length of time for us.

The first weeks of September is the wrong time to visit Florence --super crowded! Even with paid tours of the major museums we saw only a tiny part of each. Come early in the Spring or later in the Fall. Getting a table at the restaurants during our time was not a problem but only because we would go as early as possible -- usually 7:30 pm.

There are plenty of beautiful museums and palaces, and you need at least 2-3 days to see some of them. Of course, it is still not enough time to see everything, but enough to be overwhelmed by their beauty and history. If you don’t like visiting museums, probably, it is better to find another place for your holiday, because there are so many tourists in Florence, that the centre is overcrowded. Nice to know that the first Sunday of every month the museums are free, which can help to save a lot. Also the Florence Cathedral is not open for visitors on Sundays, but there are three services during the day. The architecture of Florence is amazing! I wish I could visit this city not once, but many more times.

This is by far the best hotel I’ve stayed at in Italy. The staff were incredibly polite, attentive, and always willing to help — even after I had already checked out. The room was spotless, beautifully renovated, and offered a perfect blend of comfort and style. The location is exceptional, within walking distance of everything Florence has to offer. And the rooftop pool with its breathtaking panoramic view over the entire city was simply unforgettable. A truly outstanding experience from start to finish!
