Garda is a beautiful town with lots of lovely restaurants along the promenade. The town is ideally placed for exploring the other towns on Lake Garda by bus and boat. We visited Desenzano and Sirmione to the South, Malcesine and Torbole to the North. We also went to Peschiera and got the Frecciarossa train to Venice for the day. Loads of super restaurants, bars and cafes. The lake is stunning with beautifully kept gardens along the shore. The water is so clean and ideal for swimming.There are boats to take you to other beautiful towns along the lake. It is very flat and ideal for long lakeside walks. Lake Garda is a wonderful destination for a holiday with plenty to do, on and off the lake, each village/town has its own charm and is different to each other in many ways. hiring a car is necessary if you want to explore further away from the lake to places like Verona, Venice, Mantova etc. but the ferries on the lake are very frequent and a great way to explore across the lake, The East side of the lake has more sun than the west which does loose the sun during the afternoon due to the mountains. Some of the towns can be very busy in high season so if you don't like crowds perhaps consider visiting the lake earlier in the season or during September or October when things are quieter. The whole lake is beautiful. We stayed in Garda town, for the second year running, and I think that this is the best spot having easy access to transport, such as buses and the lake ferries which can take you to most places around the lake for a very reasonable cost.There are a mildred of bars along the lake side - you’ll be spoilt for choice, but Catullo was our fav. great food and friendly staff. Easy to get to from Verona and it gave great access to other towns on the lake via water taxied and ferries. A good selection of restaurants and bars all reasonably priced and good food. the lake and the surrounding area are beautiful, we loved Riva, Limone and Garda and Sirmone We mainly ended up having Pizza and pasta but the restaurants catered for us though we were vegetarian. Alessia met us on arrival and was full of information about the apartment and the facilities in Garda. Nothing was too much trouble and Alberto and Alessia were available for any queries that might crop up during our stay. The apartment is finished to a very high standard and the beds were comfy. Easy downhill walk in to Garda town or there is a free shuttle bus. I stayed here with my daughter. Garda is a great town with just the right balance of vibrant energy without being too touristy. The hotel was modern and clean. I liked the fact that there was a restaurant on site, available for all meals, with other options close by. The stay was very good value as breakfast was included, with many choices on offer.
