Lipari is really a great destination.
Lipari is really a great destination. The town is cool and is a great jumping off point to visit the other islands. For sure to visit Panaera an especially Stromboli by night. Bring you bathing suit. Lots of cool beaches even though many are rock. Strongly recommend going after the main tourist season. People are nice and the food and drink spectacular. Visit the castle for incredible Mediteranian history. The only downside is getting there and coming back. Lots to see and do. Hire a Vespa/car and explore the island. Lots of places to swim except at the Mariner. The beaches are pebbles/rocks, some are pumice grain but easily manageable. The views from the mountain tops are stunning. Such a great view to Vulcano island. Visit white beach for the day and hire a beach chair and umbrella. The restaurant / bar at white beach is awesome and not expensive. They even have a guy pick you up in a car and chauffeur you down to the beach and a back up. , you’ll need to book. Stay near the marina, restaurant /cafes and shops are so close , easy walking. Ferry terminal Easy ferry ride over to the other Aeolian islands, stay for the day. Walk to the crater on Vulcano or visit Stromboli volcano or just explore other islands on a day trip . Take a tour to the varies grottos. I completely fell in love with the island! The main town is charming, and the natural scenery is absolutely breathtaking. We did a hike with views of Salina Island, and it was simply stunning. The museum is a must as it has relics going back to Neolithic and Roman times. All are well arranged and explained. It is next to the Basillica Concattedrale di San Bartolomeo which has a Norman cloister attached to it and was discovered while renovating. They are both built on the castle. The boat trips to islands were great from there. The one we did lasted from 10 am to 10 pm. They were the highlights for us.Guest review byPetaAustralia

It was great to have a pool to return to at the end of a hot day exploring. Breakfast was very good. Lipari is lovely. White Beach Lido was our favourite - we took the bus from the port to Canneto then did the 30-40 min hike over the hill - very steep but worth it for the stunning views and rewarded with a relaxing day under the shade of an umbrella. We were upgraded to a suite which was lovely, very large, 2 separate rooms and huge balcony overlooking the ocean. the staff were very friendly and good pool area. The people of Lipari are so friendly and personable, just a delightful place to visit. We went to Stromboli for the night volcano viewing and lucky enough to see sprays of magna. The breakfast is delicious and the rooms are very quiet during the night, extreamly clean and comfortable. The small terrace is perfect to chill during warm hours of the day. We even forgot a pair of shoes after our stay and the personnel was so kind to contact us and send them back.
