Very pretty Tyrolean town. Lots to see. Great for walking without having to hike. Great river walks. A mix of Austria and Italy. A friendly welcoming place. Lots of lovely restaurants, cafes and bars and they are not over expensive. The scenery is beautiful. We were there mid June and it wasn't too busy. Very relaxed atmosphere. Merano provides free transport for tourists with the payment...
Merano provides free transport for tourists with the payment of the tourist tax. We could travel easily to Bolzano and from there we could use the cable car to the Ritten Plateau and the funicular at the top. So many beautiful things to see and do! We arrived with a large car (Toyota Sienna), it was a bit difficult to find a place in the underground garage, but we managed. From the hotel, you can cross a closed corridor (free of charge) to the city spa center, but the hotel's own wellness area is also wonderful. We really enjoyed the rooftop outdoor pool.
