    By far the best of all 5 towns.

    By far the best of all 5 towns. We stayed in the old part of Monterosso and it felt authentic. Much less crowded than the other towns. And much easier to navigate given that it's not all hills. Just a short stroll to the newer side of Monterosso and w plenty of eating spots to choose from.

    Charming Monterosso al Mare has the largest selection of...

    Charming Monterosso al Mare has the largest selection of hotels, shops and restaurants compared to the other Cinque Terre villages. We used it as a base to travel to the other four villages, which with hindsight was a great decision as it is less steep compared to the others. It is very easy to travel between the villages by train but if you're fond of hikes, there are numerous trails which can be followed to get to each. We did the section of the Blue Trail (Sentiero Azzuro) between Monterosso and Vernazza which was very steep and took about 3-4 hours at a slow pace. The STUNNING Via del Amore (Lovers walk) from Riomaggiore to Manarola is flat and very easy. You would need about 3 days to see all the villages at a leisurely pace but allow more time if you plan to do several trails. The moon rise from the promenade paired with a busker singing live in Monterosso al Mare is breath taking and evokes an indefinable sense of inner peace. Since we stayed there for five nights, we had ample time to visit historical Porto Venere, a short ferry ride from La Spezia. After walking around for a few hours, we took a boat all the way back to Monterosso al Mare which was definitely worth it for the alternative views of the five villages. Another option for a location of the Italian Riviera to visit is the glamorous and star studded Portofino. Whatever you do and wherever you are, do not miss the delicious gelatos and freshly made lemonade! They're everywhere! Have a fantastic trip!

    Secluded private garden location just minutes from the...

    Secluded private garden location just minutes from the beach and the Gigante statue in the new town, nestled under old growth trees in a light filled greenhouse glass addition to an historical building. Sun Light yet private. Equipped with dishwasher and washer/dryer(a bonus for travelers) and the lack of towels. Bring extra charging stations. Outlets are sparing in each room. Non the less, this one is a find. I'd return.

    The biggest (?)

    The biggest (?) of the Cinque Terre towns with far more to do and see than the others. Confusingly split into two, connected by a pedestrian tunnel. The only downside was that weather conditions stopped the ferries (and boat trips) running.

    A great location - across the road from the beach

    A great location - across the road from the beach the best village to choose to stay in - in my opinion as it has more room to move around freely when the day visitors come also. Rooms with ocean view have a top view and small balcony to enjoy it on a good breakfast on offer also.

    Quaint village in a series of 5 well connected villages. Easy access by train. Amazing walks betwen villages. Warm sea to swim in. Food became a bit one dimensional. Pizza and pasta. If you don’t eat pork and shell fish then you eat a mountain of carbohydrates. We longed for something fresh. Overall a fantastic place steeped in history and Italian culture. Well worth a visit. Oh, one other thing. Don’t miss out on Levante. Take a train there. It’s great

    Gabriela - owner and proprietor of Hotel Stella della Marina is a fantastic host. The location was perfect in the old part of Monterosso. The place was very clean with great amenities. Gabriela personally showed me to my room and how the doors worked. The slippers in the room was a pleasant touch. Huge variety was laid on for breakfast enough to cater for every taste. He also recommended some nice restaurants. Can’t fault Hotel Stella della Marina. Thank you Gabriela for a wonderful stay.

    The hotel is in an idyllic spot in the hills above Monterosso. It was very peaceful and we enjoyed being slightly detached from the busy town. It only takes about 15 mins to walk down the hill into town and there is also a shuttle bus which leaves every hour. The breakfast was nice and set us up for the day. The staff were very pleasant and my partner liked the fact it was primarily being run by women. The room was comfortable and clean.

    The little hotel is located conveniently close to the train station (in new part of the Monterosso). The rooms are clean n comfortable n the bathroom must have been recently renovated n upgraded which was nice. Alessandro who takes care of the hotel is friendly n helpful with recommendations when asked.

    Nice comfortable rooms and very clean with a beautiful view. The breakfast was more then enough and plenty to choose from. Very friendly staff and it was great to have the regular shuttle service to get transported between Hotel and the village Monterosso!
