The region (Barbagia) is a paradise for outdoors activities---hiking, climbing, trail running, spelunking, mountain biking. Moreover, one of the most beautiful sections of the Sardinian coast (the Orosei gulf) is only a half hour drive away, with great opportunities for swimming, sunbathing, and sea kayaking The city is small, quiet, and very safe with excellent food. This is not really a tourist town, but it's a great location with good access to explore. It seems a quiet town. Everyone we met was friendly and welcoming. Beautiful place with lovely people. I felt safer than other cities I have visited. But obviously, you can never be too cautious.
