Pistoia is a small town, not Firenze or even the size of Lucca. However, it has amazing architecture and plenty to explore. There are many, many restaurant choices, it's clean, safe and appealing. It's so easy to drive in and walk to the center. Prices are low. We loved the ease of dining after a day of exploring. Pistoia is not very well known, but we were pleasantly surprised at the interesting medieval character of the town. Pistoia is a great place to visit when you have been visiting all the other major cities in Italy and just want some time out. It is a quieter town, you can walk around within a few hours easily. A gem of a town!
A gem of a town! Lots of wonderful shops, restaurants and bars to choose from. The locals were always kind and patient with my attempt at speaking italian! Great night life, the centre is awash with locals out eating and drinking every night. At the very beginning of our stay, he sat down with us and took the time to show us what’s worth seeing in the area. Thanks to his tips, we were able to discover some beautiful places we wouldn’t have found on our own. The atmosphere was very pleasant, the surroundings were beautiful, and it was a great base for exploring the region — both nearby towns like Pistoia and more distant ones like Pisa. Pistoa was lovely and the flat was right in the centre with lots of little restaurants and drinks options 2 seconds away from the flats front door.
