Rome is a magnificent city but it can be hard work and sometimes things don't work as they should (taxis sometimes did not turn up, tour operators locations/instructions are difficult to understand) Most hospitality providers are excellent but some are blatantly ripping off tourists - which detracts from the experience. The numbers of tourists put pressure on the city's ability to cope, however efforts should be made to lessen/prevent tourists being harassed by hawkers

    Rome. What’s not to like?

Rome. What’s not to like? It was still crowded in early October, however with the Jubilee Year and perfect weather this was to be expected. Love the free water stations dotted around Rome. Be prepared for booking in tickets in advance and be aware of entry fees to most of Rome’s famous sites. Use the supermarkets to stock up on snacks if travelling with little ones, or big ones, as eating out for every meal can really bite into the budget. Use the buses or Uber. Be aware of taxis who do not use a meter.

I really love the city of Rome for its remarkable historical monuments and architectural masterpieces. They impress me with their design, preservation, and the grandeur of what previous generations were able to build.

Rome is full of life especially at night, that was so nice to see. You could ride the trains and buses in the evening and feel safe and people are out enjoying life. The bakeries are amazing!!! I do wish Rome and its businesses would clean up and paint around their stores and shops. It reflects that the Roman people don't care or are unhappy/depressed. The tourist and historical areas were very nice, but everyday life in the city was unimpressive. Your presence in the city needs work. Clean up garbage and leaves and any mess and paint the exteriors of your business/hotels, etc. It looks very run down.

I really liked Rome. It’s a beautiful city.

I really liked Rome. It’s a beautiful city. All the tourist spots felt very safe, honestly — even though staff at different places advised me to be careful with pickpockets. I felt very safe walking back to my Booking accommodation and to my hotel at night (I stayed at a hotel before my Booking reservation). Overall, everything was great. It was just a bit crowded, but that’s understandable since it’s such a popular tourist destination. In general, it was a very good experience.

The room was simply gorgeous - soo spacious exceptionally clean and truly 5 stars! It was luxury and the bed the best we had across our 4 weeks in Italy! The location was good - easy to get busses everywhere or walk! The suites are super close to many beautiful restaurants and the lady that welcomed us was delightful. We would stay here again in a heart beat! Oh and the view from our room across Rome was perfect!

We celebrated our 25th Wedding anniversary in Rome and had the private wedding inside the Basilica of St Peter. And staying in this hotel is one of the highlights of our celebration. This is one of the best hotel we had stayed here in Italy and Giulia and the rest of the front office dept are very accommodating and helpful to all our needs. Highly recommended if you will stay in Rome. Grazie mille.

Convenient location. A rare (in Italy) small balcony (nice to have a little outdoor spot to take in a bit of fresh air) Contemporary, clean decor. A reasonable amount of surface/storage space compared to some of the hotels we experienced in Rome Decent value for the money at this time of the year in Rome

Fantastic location, super friendly staff and the place has a very Italy/Boutique vibe to it. It's small, but so are most hotels in Rome. We've stayed in a few different places in Rome, and this was our favorite. It's also close to Termini without being TOO close, which gets a little grimy.

Hotel Maximus in Rome was one of the best hotels in Italy we stayed in. The location was central and very clean. The breakfast was brilliant. Lots of variety. The staff could not have been more helpful and very polite. 10/10.
