Sperlonga is a beautiful town.
Sperlonga is a beautiful town. The only thing really the town suffered from was lack of large food store. There were some small stored but no parking so if you are located away from them, you had a very challenging walk back to apartment.Guest review byBASIreland - 10.0

A lovely little village where most of the tourists are...
A lovely little village where most of the tourists are Italian, so you don't have to hear your native language from every other person you come across and the experience is not a "tourist trap". After the hustle and bustle of Rome, it was wonderful to come here and get a peace and quiet and swim in the sea. Sperlonga had beautiful beaches and ample options to rent beach chairs for the day. The town had many different options for lunch and dinner and a really full and comprehensive market. The train station is 20 minutes from the town and there are no shuttles that go into town, so make sure you have your transportation figured out as that was a challenge for us. Sperlonga is extremely walkable and has a beautiful section of the town on top of the hill. You have to climb about 200 steps to get up there but it is breathtaking once you reach the top. If you want to visit here during the off-season like we did,...
If you want to visit here during the off-season like we did, understand that most of the restaurants close after lunch during this time of year. We came in mid-January. Obviously, it will be too cold to enjoy swimming in the beach. But walking around the historic centre was very nice. It was nice that there were so few people in the town during our time there. I would recommend it, if you are into that sort of thing. It was a great chance to take some nice pictures and videos without a lot of people, and/or crowds. There was only one restaurant open for dinner, that our Hotel recommended to us. We tried to find other options, but there were none. The room has a little balcony and we had air conditioning. The hotel was very peaceful. About 15 minutes from the beach by bicycle, it was perfect to have a calm place with nice flowers. Buses too. Close to the beach and all the main restaurants, shops and bars. Breakfast was lovely and staff friendly and helpful. It would be nice to have a kettle provided to make tea or coffee in-room. I travelled into Sperlonga by train from Rome, and it was very convenient getting from Fondi station to town and the hotel. Large property with plenty of space to accommodate 6-7 people. The beach is very close and has one of the cleanest sand and water in the area. There is a small shop nearby, but we went shopping in the nearby town, so you must drive 15 minutes.
