We stayed at the Varrena house for three nights. The location was perfect. We could walk to everywhere. We enjoyed the beautiful sunset and villas nearby. We party view of the lake was very beautiful. This unit has two bedrooms which are clean and comfortable. The host was very responsive and helpful. They helped us get a car service to pick us up and drop us off at Milan with very reasonable pricing. We requested for extra soap and laundry detergent and toilet paper. Lovely town. the people were very friendly. We needed the Pharmacia for a few family members and they were fantastic. The restaurants were clean and food was good. Extremely beautiful village very clean, even in middle of July, it did not feel overcrowded, easy walk to all attractions, Villa Monastero gardens is a must. Enjoyed, 4hrs in Billagio for sightseeing and shopping although very crowded. Side trip via bus to the gorge in Bellano was a highlight. Varenna was extremely safe, beautiful and not too crowded the last week of July. Everything that you needed from groceries, fruit, baked goods, breakfast, lunch and dinner were all withing steps of each other. If you are looking for a "shopping" experience, this town is not for you, but if you are looking for a low key, relaxing, and beautiful place on Lake Como, Varenna is for you.Guest review byAnonymous - 10.0

Varenna is a very attractive lakeshore village to spend a couple of days and has the advantage of excellent connections by ferry to other places on the lake, and by rail. Small enough to walk round and see in a day. Lovely just to sit by the lake or in the small central square and watch the world go by, although exploring the alleys is enjoyable too. It has a range of eating places, though accommodation is tighter for those wanting to stay over rather than making a day trip. We loved everything, the atmosphere, the fantastic breakfast with personal attendance, the modern room in the annex was very spatious ond with beautiful lake view (a few steep steps stairs to aware for disabled people, but there are also rooms in the old main building). A short walk from the train station at Varenna, less than 10 minutes, as well as being only a 5 minute walk from the ferry. Plenty of bars and restaurants within a few hundred yards of the hotel.
