It is nice and relaxing to stay in the old town, as well as near the centre for the train station. You see both sides of the same town and the 2 languages of Italian and French (I speak both, so this is great). I think Ventimiglia is a hidden gem - very close to both Sanremo and Menton! Excellent location for visiting nearby Italian towns and french towns are easily reached using reliable trains. We liked that Ventimiglia is very close to popular places such as Monaco, Menton, SanRemo. Day trips very easy to do. Some areas of Ventimiglia were dodgy but overall people very friendly, prices reasonable and beaches not overcrowdedGuest review bymariya

Apart from the charms and great history of the old town, there are spots where you can look up the beautiful Valle Roia to see snow-capped Alps, then turn around to see across Italy, France and Monaco, plus Cap Ferrat, Cap d'Antibes and finally Le Massif d'Esterel on the horizon.
