It's very good to visit for 3 days, as you will have time and opportunity to visit Fuji Five Lakes, Mount Fuji, and, if needed, easily travel to Osaka and Kyoto using the Shinkansen. The Ropeway, pirate ship, and Hakone shrine are among the best things to experience. Plan in advance and consider taking a free Hakone Bus, unless you plan to return to Tokyo or Odawara Station.

Hakone is a wonderful place to visit.

Hakone is a wonderful place to visit. Transportation is readily available however, the bus system is very confusing. We used the two day free pass, but to see everything, the three day free pass for first time visitors is necessary. We will go back to view what we missed.

The Open Air Museum was exceptional - a must see. The cable car to the volcano rim was beautiful, as was the charming pirate ship cruise around the volcanic lake. The scenic Tozan railway was a great way to travel to our destination near Gora Station.

Cute little self contained room which had everything we required. A very quiet, small complex but close to everything we needed. The hosts provided excellent service and recommendations - very helpful and friendly. We wish we stayed longer!

Hakone is so far the highlight of 2 weeks in Japan. Could spend 2 nights there easily. The Free Pass was very good value, easy to use, and a great way to see the area. Start early. Ignore the crowds. Research the spots you want to stop. We wasted time in Hakone machi not realising that we would miss out on the open air museum and other spots around Gora. In hindsight we should have stayed in Odawara, hotels cheaper, only 15mins from Hakone, lots more restaurants and a good vibe too.

Hakone is a great place to explore for a few days, with lots to do and see. A nice change from the hectic pace of the cities. If you’re lucky, you’ll get to see Fuji-san! I especially enjoyed the Hakone Open Air Museum.

Wonderful little getaway ryokan. Room was spacious with a lounge and a massage chair. The massage chair was the best after walking all day. The private onsen on the balcony was a delight. The dinner and breakfast meals were amazing and delicious. They had free flowing drinks. There’s also free coffee machine in the lobby plus a free alcohol station on the third floor. The staff were wonderful. There’s also a bus that takes you to the hotel from Hakone-Yumoto station for $2. It’s great when it was raining.

The view of Mt Fuji from our Japanese Wester-Style room with Mt Fuji view was incredible and a highlight of a trip along with the Onsen, first thing in the morning and last thing at night, amazing. The hotel has a short walk to the ropeway, walk out the front doors then walk around the building to your right, you will find a little path that takes you to a side door of the ropeway. A must is the Hakone pass!

It’s my 3rd stay at this hotel. Love the place and we always book the lake view room. Excellent and helpful staff, very near the togendai bus station. Lovely food and clean rooms. Outdoor Onsen is the best! They provided samue and yukata. Despite some things below, we will still continue coming to this hotel. Best one in Hakone Lake Ashi area.

We stayed in the Japanese style room. It was spacious and comfortable, with useful accessories (yukata, kettle). The hotel has both private and public onsen. The hotel is located next to the bus stop and 15 mins walking from Hakone Ropeway lake station. A lot of green areas around.

Hakone village is a great stop for travellers interested in Mt Fuji region. Hotel is in a pleasant neighbourhood with wonderful surprises nearby. There are places to eat and explore within the proximity of the hotel. this was our first Onsen experience in Japan and it was great.
