We fell in love with Kakurinbo from the second we walked up the beautiful temple entrance and met all the kind staff. We stayed in the garden view room for the first night, and sitting on the balcony drinking green tea was like something out of a fairytale. The dinner served in small little colourful plates was some of the best food we have had in Japan. Our stay was so incredible: experiencing the Buddhist monk morning prayers at the temple on the hill, bathing in the baths, doing morning yoga, hiking and chatting to the staff, that we actually ended up extending for two more nights. We couldn't recommend this place more strongly. It was definitely one of the highlights of our time in Japan.

Staying at the Habanobo Temple is not just a simple stay, but a meaningful experience. The place is comfortable, the rooms are large and clean, and the traditional meals are delicious. The monk at Habanobo explained a lot of things to us about Buddhism, suggested what to visit nearby, and involved us in different activities, for free.

New, clean and comfortable beds. Free car park and convenience store + restaurants close by. Toiletries and equipment provided were nice and new. Drinking water from tap and air purifiers available in the rooms. Nice set up and fun, amazing views of the alps and Mt Fuji around the property.
