    Great city.

    Great city. I enjoyed visiting this city, especially the Himeji Castle. This was the third times I visit Himeji Castle. Public transportation was convenient. I would recommend spending at least two full days at this city.

    Himeji is obviously very famous for its castle, but other than that lacks many things to do. I found my time there to be rather boring, and we often struggled to find activities to fill our nights with. We used Himeji as a central location to take day trips from - since we booked during Golden Week, hotel prices in more ideal areas, such as Kobe, were heavily inflated and unreasonable.

    The Himeji locals are friendly.

    The Himeji locals are friendly. I also like the town as it has a little of an un-hurried atmosphere. Finding things to do and places to see it facilitated by a Tourist Information centre, where I have been most surprised by the things on offer throughout the year. (I wish I was there now for the Himeji Yukata festival) If you haven't already, please visit Himeji Castle and take a guided tour. The guides in my experience are full of information about e castle, its history and the history of its occupants. If nature is your thing, by all means possible visit Shosha-zan!

    Himeji is a nice sized city, with a beautiful castle and...

    Himeji is a nice sized city, with a beautiful castle and associated gardens. We were lucky to be there during the annual festival, which was held over a weekend. This included a street parade and hundreds of short performances by beautifully-costumed groups. A great festival atmosphere.

    Himeji castle is one of the"must-sees" in Japan, not only...

    Himeji castle is one of the"must-sees" in Japan, not only for the original architecture, but also for the historical importance. It's also very interesting if you have an interest in European castle / fortress architectures to contrast and compare.

    I only had a few hours, but wanted to see the castle, which...

    I only had a few hours, but wanted to see the castle, which I did both in sunlight and after dark. It is stunning (I didn't go inside) and the moat contains enormous black carp I was alone, and on my way to visit friends the next day, but I would say the night scene looked good - I would have liked to be with others to go out and explore. It looked like a fun city

    The location is right next to the JR train station. We were able to bring our luggage to the hotel after arriving at the train station at 1100 so that we could tour the Himeji castle. Check in was at 1500. It was also close to many stores and restaurants. All within walking distance. We did not need a taxi during our stay. The beds were comfortable. I also enjoyed the public onsen/bath. Great way to relax. The breakfast had good variety and offered items for western tastes.

    Very very good location, close to train station and also to Himeji castle. Lot of shopping options, conbinis, night life. Entrance is possible from several sides, might be tricky especially in the night. Staff is speaking English is a big plus, and they are very helpful. Overall I Would stay again.

    Location is fantastic, very close to Himeji castle, less than 10 minutes walk to the train and bus stations. Peaceful surroundings and great view of the castle from the rooftop. Room was fine though quite small, bathroom however quite spacious. Good breakfast, helpful staff, would stay again.
