Definitely visit the zoo if you have the opportunity. It’s very interactive with lots of cute animals. The in Granpal Park illumination was also really good! 7/11 and Family Mart have amazing egg sandwiches. Great places to eat, gorgeous river with light display in the centre of town, close to many attractions only a bus ride away. A smaller city, so lots to see in a quieter setting. We went during the winter season in February and it was good weather and an enjoyable stay! We were able to see the cherry blossoms! We saw komuroyama, the volcano omuroyama, did the jogasaki trail, went to kawazu to see the cherry blossoms, the imaihama beach where I definitely recommend to take a bike to go the beach! I also recommend taking a day-pass at Ito station where you can take as much as you want the subway. However, for the mountains you have to take the buses so use your pasmo / suica card or cash. I made a round trip along Ito coast. The west side is a rural area with its natural beauty and rocky beach well preserved. Not many people and houses, which fit my preference well. We needed more time! We loved the coastline and beautiful beaches, the hikes and attractions. You need to be careful with transportation if you don't have a car: make sure you know what buses and trains you are taking in advance. I loved the handcrafted details, the traditional features, and the veranda with a view of the river was sublime. The whole hotel was an incredible place to explore, with its many staircases, corridors, and common rooms. The whole experience felt like a dream. Simply wonderful.
