Because I got in late from doing the big bike ride over from Imabari, I was left with little time or energy to explore Onomichi. However, I did do some of the temple tour in the morning and it was excellent. I recommend taking the "ropeway" (I'd call it a cable car) to the hilltop and work your way down. Onomichi was a quiet town with lots of small alleys to explore. One full day should be enough to get a taste of the location for younger travelers. Such a beautiful little town with really friendly residents who genuinely welcome and enjoy travellers. Lots to do in the day, a bit quite at night though so don’t rely on there being restaurants open for dinner. I loved Onomichi. I only spent one day and one night there before beginning the Shimanami Kaido cycle, but I wish I’d stayed and relaxed a bit more is this wonderful town. The temple walk was worth the views, cat alley was unique and worth seeing, I loved just grabbing a coffee or pastry and sitting on the pier to enjoy the view.Guest review byNinaIreland - 10.0
Expect lot's of walking.
Expect lot's of walking. There is something to see around every corner - or up every hill. Weather permitting it is a must. Not sure it would be much fun in the rain, unless you love shopping and eating sushi :-)Guest review byAnonymous

It feels very cozy and authentic and the view from the hotel rooms it breath-taking: it's basically at the top of the mountain, but also built into the mountain, so you can oversee whole of Onomichi and nearby islands. I can really recommend staying here if you plan on coming to Onomichi, just be aware of the few steps you have to take, but it is worth it!Guest review byMarcoJapan

Got to spend two days on the shimano kaido in stead of one and sleep in this beauty of an hotel with the best views and facilities.
