Hotel Ole Inn is very conveniently located. The buffet breakfast is excellent with a great variety of delicious food. It also provides complimentary curry rice with salad, drinks and coffee in the evening. The room is clean and well equipped.

Good location if you intend to visit Miho No Matsubara and/or take the Suruga Bay ferry from Shimizu port to Toi port on the Izu Peninsula - another great photograph opportunity for Mt. Fuji. An excellent business hotel amenities, free drinks (during the evening), and an adequate breakfast selection. The hotel is within 50 m to Shimizu train station with many options for meals. A highly recommended stop-over hotel.

My room was spacious and very comfortable, making for a great stay. I also appreciated the Business Hotel perks, such as complimentary coffee and beverages. The hotel is just a short bus ride from Shizuoka Station, and free onsite parking is available—perfect if you're planning to rent a car (which I highly recommend to fully explore the area). The staff were exceptionally friendly and always helpful whenever I had questions.

Kuretake Inn Premium Shizuoka Annex is an underrated gem in terms of quality. We enjoyed the excellent location, professional service and clean rooms. The offer of a bottle of Shizuoka tea for every day the room did not require cleaning is an awesome idea, as it allowed both guests and hotel to do their parts for the environment. As raved by other guests, the daily breakfast was delicious, comprising cuisines of Shizuoka, which conveniently allowed us to sample the various foods of the city. The hotel accorded us easy access to the train and bus stations, as well as a great view of the city skyline. Highly recommended.

Wonderful small hotel. Check-in was super easy, even though there are no staff. It’s in a quieter end of town. It’s a bit far to walk from the train station with luggage, about 15 min. But otherwise is very convenient. We had a car and there were plenty of local parking lots. I would happily stay here again.

Shizuoka is a hidden gem.

Shizuoka is a hidden gem. You can stay here and get to many sightseeing destinations by rail (day trips) and come back to the relaxation of more laidback location. Locals are very pleasant and friendly, not so jaded by the over tourism of Kyoto and Osaka. We speak very limited Japanese, but were welcomed and managed in small local restaurants and Izakayas.

Shizuoka's shinkanesen train station is packed full of interesting shops and restaurants. We absolutely loved browsing as we waited for our train. Our visit in Shizuoka was much too short. I would have like to walk through the park (Sumpu) Walk through the city and explore more of the department stores. We got to see a local tea farm but it would have been great to visit more. We tried Sushiro which was really fun and delicious and better than most of the sushi restaurants in Montreal.

For those whose hobby is into plastic modelling, the city of...

For those whose hobby is into plastic modelling, the city of Shizuoka is considered the model city of Japan. There is the annual Shizuoka hobby show that is held in the second week of May and is one of the biggest model show exhibitions in the world so hobbyist will not be disappointment.

We hated it. We felt unsafe, boxed in.

We hated it. We felt unsafe, boxed in. My friend is fluent in Japanese but even she was having trouble making the staff understand even small things. It’s a love hotel. Very disturbing. Sextoy magasine, prostitute magasine, locked doors that only open when you call and ask the staff to open the doors. Staff that didn’t understand. Making me pay for two rooms when giving us just one room.

Shizuoka city has the pleasant atmosphere of a sizable city...

Shizuoka city has the pleasant atmosphere of a sizable city with a country feel. I love Shizuoka and of course, that big mountain is always visible in the near vicinity when it's not hanging with its cloudy mates.

From a touristic perspective Shizuoka was just perfect for travelers who look for a more relaxing location. It was not full of tourists like you would expect seeing in Tokyo. But this also means that not everything is written or explained in english. Shizuoka is a perfect stay location when you want to visit locations like Nagoya, Hamamatsu, Mishima or similiar (so places you would usually pass with a shinkansen from Tokyo to Kyoto)

It is a new hotel, about 10 minutes of easy walk from the Shizuoka station. Everything was nice and clean, the room was spacious with a gorgeous view of the mountains. The buffet style breakfast was delicious, most of the main food was changing every day, so I never got bored of it during my 5-day stay. The beds were super comfy with plenty of pillows and the spa was great to unwind after a long day on foot. All in all it exceeded my expectations and I'd be happy to come back.

Kuretake Inn is always a good value for money. This hotel in Shizuoka wasn't an exception: free breakfast (although it gets a bit crowded in the morning), communal bath (with sauna too), happy hours with free drinks. The room was good for a solo traveller as well. It is located some ten minutes away from Shizuoka station on foot, and there is a local train line station nearby (Hiyoshicho).

If you are looking for a love hotel you have come to the right place. Great room, karaoke, spa setting, secluded - no one will bother you. If you have a car this is a good place too. The Japanese Breakfast was good.
