Tanabe was our starting point for our Kumano Kodo trek so we stayed in Tanabe only one day not realizing how much there is to do in Tanabe. If we ever come to Tanabe again, we will be sure to stay longer to enjoy all that there is to do there. The host was kind enough to pick us up in Tanabe and then drop us off at the start of the Nakahechi route early the next day. The home is a restored historic Japanese farmhouse so, if you want an experience that goes back in time, this ones' for you.
