It's a brand new hotel, excelent staff, spacious rooms with great views either to the river or the airport (we got the river side and enjoyed out last glimpse of the city life before going back home). Super comfortable bed, as usual in japan the bathrooms are a dream come true, automatic toilet, excelent shower pressure and extremelly clean. It's located around 10 minutes away from Terminal 3 in Haneda and having the shuttle bus come and pick you up from the 1st floor was great, specially if your flight departs early in the morning. It also has 5 washing machines, which was great because in other hotels there were either 2 or 3 and were always occupied until 2am (and you can check which ones are available in your tv room!). The monorail station is just a few steps aways so you can get anywhere in Tokio very easily.

Ask for a Camp Kaie room if you're a family. Huge room with 4 mattresses pushed together, a tent, a hammock, games and a great bathroom with tub. It's a seriously stellar family room.

FAQs about hotels in Tokyo

See It to Believe It!

The capital of Japan, Tokyo is a vast, teeming metropolis nestled between mountains and Tokyo Bay. It’s so huge that you’ll have to come to grips with public transport and maybe even experience being pushed onto a train. Yes, it does actually happen!

Get your bearings by ascending the Tokyo World Trade Centre near the waterfront, and savour the fantastic views taking in the red-and-white Tokyo Tower and Shinkuju’s skyscrapers. North is Ueno, home to the best museums (including the Tokyo National Museum) and a large park bursting with cherry blossom in spring.

Equally tranquil are the Chiyoda Imperial Palace and Gardens, surrounded by water. Also in gardens is the Meiji Jingu Shinto shrine in Shibuya, a youthful district where neon abounds.

For more traditional Japanese culture, head to Asakusa whose Sensō-ji Buddhist temple is Tokyo’s oldest temple. Markets in the grounds sell a variety of wares, though shopping in Tokyo is, of course, fantastic wherever you go.

Whether you stay in a Japanese ryokan, luxury Tokyo hotel or a hostel, don’t fly out of Tokyo Narita Airport or Haneda Airport without having tried sushi. Another Japanese institution is the sento (public bath) and onsen (hot springs bath) – a must try. Also incredibly popular are Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea, Asia’s 2 most visited theme parks.

Tokyo was everything that I had expected from the "research"...

Tokyo was everything that I had expected from the "research" that I had done for months before our trip. It was safe, clean, organized and multifaceted! Some areas were modern, trendy, glitzy, and camp; other areas were serene, medieval, traditional. Please check the goldmine of information that is available on YouTube (and other sources) before you go to find things that interest you and things that may surprise you! We even managed to find out how to navigate the subway system; not bad for a couple in their late 70's!

We found a couple of good places for visitors to view Tokyo...

We found a couple of good places for visitors to view Tokyo such as the Tokyo Gov't building tower in Shinjuku. Ueno Park in Ueno was also a good place to visit. Asakusa was interesting however just tailored for tourists with inflated prices. Tsukiji outer market was bustling but long ques and greatly inflated prices took away the attraction. The subways are amazing and very efficient however older folks need to be aware that distances, stairs and navigating within these subways can be quite daunting. One sushi place we quite enjoyed was Miura Misaki Port in Ueno. English speaking tourists should be aware that communication can be challenging and technology is used to place orders using tablets and QR codes. There are no rubbish bins and when you order food from a street vendor there is generally no place to sit and eat. You are either forced to go into places if you want to sit and eat or drink or take it home. On any future trips to Japan we will try to venture into less touristic areas.

5 days just good enough to have a feeling of broader pulse...

5 days just good enough to have a feeling of broader pulse of the city. Pls take a 24, 48 or 72 hours subway pass at throwaway available for only tourists (800,1200 & 1500 yes respectively). Often very often metro routes become confusing to tourist, please do some research on any AI tool or google to have a theoretical understanding; believe me this proved me as lifesaver as I could navigate Tokyo metro like a native without asking anyone for direction. You will definitely find a metro station around any tourist attraction. Have a nice shoe for long walk at metro rail stations, some days I walked around 15km or more. SIM card is a choice. I managed using its free Wifi widely available. Cheapest SIM is around 2000 yen, available at Seven Eleven shops. Lot of tax free shops if your purchase is more than 5000 yen or so. Please get registered yourself online to avail this. Covered destinations like Senso jo temple, Skytree, Meiji Shrine, Imperial Palace Garden, Shibuya crossing, Ueno Park, Tsukiji fish market, Akhiabara Electronic market. Food is not that costly. People are very approachable and friendly, very down to earth. They are very systematic and respectful to others. You will find souvenir around 100 Yen at Daiso; most of the items there are 100 yen if there is no price tag on that. You will find your nearest shop in Google. You can view Tokyo skyline for free at Metropolitan Govt Building, at 45th floor. This is a free substitute of paid tokyo skytree or tokyo tower. You will find bicycling is a norm there. Japanese are very neat and clean. They are technologically very advanced. Public toilets are also very clean and free for use in public places and metro stations. I liked it very much. I will definitely visit Japan again.

I used to live in Soka City, Saitama Prefecture for 4.5...

I used to live in Soka City, Saitama Prefecture for 4.5 months and went into Tokyo often. I have been back 4 times since then for short stays, and when I tell you I could keep coming back over and over, I mean it extremely sincerely. The city is bustling with things to do, from daytime activities to the nightlife, and you will never be left wanting. The food is delicious, with budget options as well as more high-end locations, and if you wish to find more quiet locations, the outskirts of Tokyo have that too! I would recommend Tokyo to anyone, though be aware that the Tokyo train system WILL confuse you at first and maybe for your entire stay <3

Absolutely loved Tokyo.

Absolutely loved Tokyo. Using the subway to get to and from places was easy, everything color coded and google maps works well. Shibuya is an experience and must do both during day and night for very different experiences. Loved everything about this trip, very clean and quiet and we found it easy to navigate our way around.

Tokyo is a vibrant city.

Tokyo is a vibrant city. People are very courteous, very disciplined, and eco-friendly. I wish they can apply the same principle where I live - just bring wash towel instead of using paper towels in public restrooms. Everyone is aware of not throwing trash in public but I think the city should still provide trash cans for the tourists to throw the trash to be able to maintain the cleanliness of the city.
