Friendly staff , one of the staff saw us unloading tons of luggages. The bring the cart over so we could bring it up our rooms easier . The hotel right next to a highway rest centre , lots of local produce and specialty items to buy. I think it opens early too. I love the bathroom mirror can be turned around. One of us can brush teeth, while the other do make up without fighting at the sink area for the mirror.

A beautiful 100 year old Japanese Farmhouse in a delightful countryside. An authentic experience with very kind and helpful hosts. We had dinner and breakfast prepared for us by our host and it was generous and delicious. We harvested fresh vegetables from the garden. The couple who were our hosts were very kind and generous. They drove us to see some other places and helped us with anything we needed. Also, good English was spoken which made our stay easy and enjoyable as we could ask many questions. I hope we can visit again one day, highly recommend for anyone wanting a deeper understanding of traditional Japanese life in the countryside.

Wonderful. Ai at reception was kind and helpful. I stayed here because I wanted to watch a football match at the stadium which is right next door. I didn't have a ticket and Ai and her colleague helped me get one using her colleagues membership card to book it on line. Ai speaks great English and answered all my questions. I was there at the peak of cherry blossom season and took a bus for 15 minutes from Kameoka to Nanatakigawa, a relatively unknown spot, which was wonderful. Kameoka is quiet with some great authentic restaurants (recommend Hatori) and only 20 minutes from Kyoto station. The onsen is perfect too. Highly recommend.

Worth every cent! What an experience! I wasn't sure at first (as I had the whole responsibility on me to decide for the group I was with) and if you're on a budget like we were, well this is a spend ..BUT..so happy I booked Ryokan Sumiya Kihon. As a tattooed group we had to rent private. It was hilarious to be butt naked with your best friends and ridiculously relaxing. The food is delicious. Breakfast= huge but Dinner = a little small for our crew. (Spanish/Australian mix). It's fine. Just bring snacks ;).

The private bath in the garden was great and overall the location in the mountains is incredible. Dinner along the river is fantastic (Maiko present on weekends). Breakfast is also very good.
