The overall hospitality is fantastic! The room is spacious. The staff really considers the guest, the onsen, a small gift from the staff, and snacks available in vicinity since food isn't not easily in reach at night. Also the view from Mount Fuji is beautiful, and the shared garden in the back was a nice touch. The foot massage garden was one of my favorites as it both entertained and educated me about how the foot connects to a part of the body

Lake Yamanaka is such a pretty place - Mt. Fuji never showed her face during our stay for the icon lake photos but it didn’t take away from the magic. The little town just 20 mins away by bus from our domes was super cute, filled with history, culture, and more shopping.

We stayed for just one night to have the amazing view and cheaper hostel prices. One night in yamanakako, one night in kawaguchico, is perfect. Yamanakako is quieter and less touristy, which is exactly what we wanted. However, the bus schedule limits how many places you can go cuz they come every 1 hr

We did not have time to explore the town at all, but overall seemed like a beautiful place by the lake. Would highly recommend because I think this place is less mobbed by tourists that Fujikawaguchiko.

It was a nice place to stop for a few days before heading back to Tokyo. Great places to eat and beautiful walks around the lake. There is a bathhouse not to far from the hotel but they do not allow tattoos- no exceptions.

This is a beautiful area full of nature and amazing views.

This is a beautiful area full of nature and amazing views. I went in October so out of the main season and it was nice and quiet with not many visitors around. Renting a Swan boat and feeding the ducks was great fun! I couldn't find a single vegetarian restaurant in town so something to be aware of if you don't eat meat or fish. Just be aware of the army base from which you can hear artillery fire every day. It's loud and a little disconcerting! I think Yamanakako is less touristy than Kawaguchiko which for me is a good thing.

It's a great area if you like outdoorsy activities.

It's a great area if you like outdoorsy activities. There's several hiking trails around the Lake, which are well marked and reward you with an awesome view of Fujisan when you get to the destination. The trails up to Mt Takazasu and Mt Myojin are good and take in the Panorama-Dei spot which is popolar for viewing Fujisan. All-day parking is available at Yamanakako Community Plaza Kirara, and the trailheads are 20-30min walk away from there. There is also a very nice 15km cycling path around the Lake, which is a very long but pleasant walk. If you're not outdoorsy, then the options are more limited to the nice restaurants, and there are high end and nice lower-priced options (Denny's, Cafe Gusto). There are also various onsen and sento in the town.

The hotel is niveau located up the mountain with a view of the lake and Mount Fuji when it’s clear weather. We stayed for two nights in a family room with 2 western bed and 2 Japanse futon beds on a tatami floor. The western beds were fine although hard as all Japanse beds. The room itself was spacious with a nice balcony. Breakfast was also pretty good with sufficient choices. The best thing was the Japanse batch (onsen) with open doors so that you can sit partially outside. And the hotel sauna

We loved this place! Staff was incredibly nice and helpful. Google translator helped us to communicate. It's a hotel with traditional Japanese rooms with futons and shared bathrooms. I would recommend booking with breakfast and dinner! The food they prepared was delicious. To hotel is just a short walk away from the lake with the most beautiful view onto Mt Fuji. The hotel had plenty of parking and the whole building was spotless. We loved our stay there and would absolutely come back

We had an amazing stay here. We had a view of Mt. Fuji from the living room and the facilities are everything we needed. The staff was very helpful. The free bike hire was great, given that the nearest convenient store was a few minutes away cycling. Such a serene area to spend time around the mountain. Unlike the other lakes, Yamanakako Lake was less crowded and peaceful.
