What surprised and delighted us most was the spotless condition of the Jaffna Railway Station. In our experience, railway areas are typically the dirtiest, but the excellent maintenance here created a lovely and quiet environment right outside our hotel. Jaffna is still an unspoiled and hidden gem of a city. People are super friendly and the city is bustling and easy to navigate. Jaffna is lovely city and it’s a shame we didn’t stay longer. It has changed a lot since our last visit 7 years ago with a lot more development but a shame so many franchises have opened up. It has a nice mix of tourist attractions and yet maintains its charm as a local area. The Rio ice cream is the best!
