FAQs about hotels in Mexico City

Aztec Capital and Vibrant Metropolis

As one of the biggest cities in the world, Mexico City could be better described as an experience than a city. Founded in 1325 by the Aztecs as Tenochtitlan, it was both destroyed and rebuilt by the Spanish in the 16th century. Nowadays, it is the capital of the United Mexican States and its most important economic and cultural center.

The city center’s cornerstone is the famous Plaza de la Constitución, commonly called Zócalo. It's surrounded by the presidential Palacio Nacional and the Mexico City Metropolitan Cathedral.

The Avenida de la Reforma was built under the brief rule of Archduke Ferdinand Maximilian of Austria, while the deposed president Porfirio Díaz left a characteristic fusion of French-Mexican architecture. The 1960s saw a demographic explosion that only now is starting to be completely absorbed.

From the Chapultepec Parks and the chic Polanco, to the gay area of Zona Rosa and the Bohemian and intellectual Coyoacán: let Mexico City tell you its thousand secrets and stories.

Most of the hotels are located around the Reforma area, the Insurgentes Avenue and the Zócalo. If you’re looking for 5-star hotels in Mexico City, the modern Santa Fe area has a recently redeveloped business sector.

I hadn't visited in decades. Wow, so improved.

I hadn't visited in decades. Wow, so improved. So much to see and do. Don't even try driving - that's chaos. Uber is easy and inexpensive. Lots of museums free on Sundays. Loved the Museum of Popular Art near the Zocalo. We were near Paseo Reforma which is closed on Sundays for bikes. Lots of great places to eat - Taqueria Orinoco was near our hotel. Get reservations to Massimo and Entremar. A week wasn't nearly enough time to explore the City.

We only stayed for 2 nights, as it was a stop over on our way from Costa Rica to Puerto Vallarta (better flights this route). Anyways, we did an 8 hrs excursion with ‘Viator’ and it was amazing!! We went up in a hot air balloon, breakfast in a cave, pyramid tour. Wonderful experience that I’ll never forget!

Mexico City reminded me so much of NYC.

Mexico City reminded me so much of NYC. I personally outgrew city life 50 years ago. Mexico City has lots of traffic, lots of horn blowing, some air pollution. There are big crowds also quite a few homeless people. Seriously, this city was NYC south. On the positive side, street food vendors everywhere with lots of delicious options. The metro train was fast and clean. There is also a Metro Bus route that takes you to the airport for 30 pesos. I took a cab when I first landed in CDMX and rode the bus when I left. Churro Moro is an amazing restaurant and La Casa de Toño en Madero has a delicious Pozole.

    Amazing city.

Amazing city. Very busy obviously but you can find anything you want there from cultural experiences to Amazing food to top quality cocktails. Saw no trouble whatsoever. Huge police presence everywhere. All locals we came across were delightful. Such a huge city with each district providing a different experience. One of the biggest markets in the world is definitely worth a visit. You can buy anything there.

    It was eyeopener.

It was eyeopener. City is beautiful and full of surprises. its very clean and people, specially the police are extremely helpful. Subway system is huge and convinient. City is very green, full of parks, street hawkers and lovely places to eat. Zocalo and its near by government buildings, bank of Mexico, Postal mesuem, many other art museums, amazing Spanish architectural buildings ,churches and cathedrals are totally a journey in magnificient history. City is very safe.I was travelling alone and not once I felt worried or concerned about safty. Good thing was that during rush hours the trains are divided into men and women sections, which made my travel more safe and enjoyable. Mexici City is by far very clean, beautiful and friendly.

The location can’t be beat, right where you want to be when visiting Mexico City. La Condesa/Roma is where it’s at with people, restaurants, cafes, and some of the most beautiful parks in DF and a neighborhood full of architectural gems, including many Art Deco apartment buildings. So I loved it! That being said, the room I booked at the hotel was on the small side, and while the bed was very comfortable, the pillows were hard and gave me a headache. I mentioned to staff when leaving and I hope they correct this

The location of the hotel in regards to the historical city centre was excellent and could be reached on foot within 10 minutes. The staff were really nice and helpful during our stay and we also arranged the airport transfer with the hotel at an additional cost which was really well priced. There was also a nice free breakfast included in the cost of the room. We would stay there again the next time we stay in Mexico City.

A wonderful boutique hotel in the heart of Mexico City. Very comfortable rooms with everything (and more!) that you could wish for, but what truly makes this place special is the team who work there. They were so kind and welcoming and went above and beyond with information and assistance, of my whole trip, not just my stay there. A true gem!

The hotel is stunning inside and the terrace must have the best view in Mexico City. The room was very comfortable, shower was great and the extra touches like a lounge to wait in after check out were fantastic. All the staff are lovely and the location is exceptional for everything in the historical centre. I can't wait to stay again!
