As a tourist town, i was surprised to see the cleanest town iv been before. Locals are very friendly and helpful. Always carry a few hard cash incase u cannot swipe. Always ask for an invoice. CARRY YOUR BORDER PASS AT ALL TIMES INCASE YOU'RE STOPPED BY THE LOCAL TRAFFIC POLICE. I MUST SAY, U WONT REGRET ANY BIT HAVING TO VISIT SWAKOP AND WALVIS. EXPECT SOME INTERNAL ROADS TO BE OF THE BEST SMOOTH GRAVEL, WITH NO ISSUES. HAVE FUN AND MAKE IT WORTHWHILE. The crystal museum is a must see. Stadtmitte Cafe serves exceptional food (well worth the wait). Swakopmund was our favorite city in all of Namibia.
Swakopmund was our favorite city in all of Namibia. It is small enough to enjoy, big enough to have varied shopping, the beach area was superior to the desert beaches en route to Walvis Bay, plus a variety of excellent restaurants. Parking was very easy and safe at the Strand Hotel. The local crafts area was enormous. We walked EVERYWHERE once we parked our vehicle. My wife bought jewellery there.
