FAQs about hotels in Amsterdam

The Best Culture and Nightlife this Side of a Canal

Jump on your city bike or hop on a canal boat and admire Amsterdam, the Venice of the North! The beautiful city houses, romantic bridges, iconic canals and street cafés create its unique atmosphere and give you an ultimate taste of its fascinating past.

Famous for its museums, most important of which are located in the Museumplein, Amsterdam offers you a chance to see unforgettable masterpieces by Rembrandt, Van Gogh, Mondriaan and more. The Anne Frank House is a sobering reminder of the city’s more recent history. After a lot of walking, the Rijksmuseum is a great place to rest and get some extra culture before visiting Amsterdam’s lovely Vondelpark.

The medieval Old Centre with the always busy Dam Square and the tempting Red Light District is the most visited part of Amsterdam. Make sure to stop at Leidseplein and Rembrandtplein, homes to the best nightlife venues.

Shop till you drop at Amsterdam’s most luxury shopping street, PC Hooftstraat, the most popular street market at Albert Cuyp or in the fancy design shops of the Jordaan district. Famous pancakes and frites with mayonnaise are a must-try! The more adventurous traveller might want to try the pickled herring, followed closely by a local beer.

All these attractions are just a short train ride from the Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport. Whether you want to stay at a cosy hotel on a canal, a modern apartment in a quiet part of the city or a room in the centre of everything, Booking.com has a perfect accommodation for your Amsterdam vacation.

Having returned to Amsterdam over a thirty year period, I never fail to love this city. The beauty of the canals, the trams, the nightlife. Coupled with shopping opportunities, cultural experiences, and ease of travel it makes an ideal spot to return to year after year. I'll be seeing Amsterdam again sometime soon 😊

I love the city of Amsterdam. I have visited the city many times and it never disappoints. Wonderful culture, restaurants and shopping. The people are warm and friendly. It is a city that embraces culture and diversity. One of Europe's and the world's finest cities. The Netherlands is a country that has so much to offer visitors.

Obviously, the wealth of museums on offer are what makes Amsterdam such a wonderful cultural centre. But just walking around the streets, taking in the atmosphere, the architecture and canals is just amaying. We can highly recommend the Ripley Museum for teenagers and adults alike, and the Anne Frank Museum is certainly a must! We also enjoyed the "This is Holland" 5D travel event. Most visits can be done on foot as everything is really within easy reach, although by the end of the day, the trams are most appreciated!!

Loved the vibe of Amsterdam.

Loved the vibe of Amsterdam. Very cosmopolitan, lots of people from all over the globe ether visiting or live there, a great melting pot for different cultures. English spoken by virtually everyone. Lots of bars and restaurants makes for a great night life. Amsterdam Central (AMC) station ideally located for national and international rail links. Schiphol airport 15 minutes by train from AMC. Trams to and from AMC takes you to all parts of the city. Would highly recommend and I will definitely be returning.

Amsterdam is a friendly, vibrant city with so much history,...

Amsterdam is a friendly, vibrant city with so much history, entertainment and charm. It feels old and new at the same time. We love “slow travel” and while we saw some of the major sites (Anne Frank house, Van Gogh museum, Haarlem) we spent most days walking around the amazing canals and popping into sidewalk and canal-side cafes for drinks and bites and sometimes chatting with the friendly locals and visitors. We stayed at a fabulous property in Houthhaven called The July Boat & Co. and utilized their free bike rentals to get around the city. Amsterdam is the most bike friendly city I have ever seen! It was far easier to get around by bike than by car. The locals can spot the tourists from a mile away and really go out of their way to make you feel welcome. I know that Amsterdam has had a reputation as a place to go to the “coffee shops” for a particular type of tourist, and yes, there are coffee shops everywhere, but if that’s not your style, there are literally hundreds of other more stimulating things to do and enjoy in the city and within a 30 minutes or less by train. Seriously, eat all you want, because you will burn every calorie walking and biking in this beautiful and historic city. I cannot wait to return!

Location is just outside of the Amsterdam city centre, but easily accessible by trains, trams and buses. For the price of this amazing hotel, compared to the hostels we were finding in the city centre for slightly more, we decided to stay here and did not regret it. The hotel is really beautiful!. The train, tram and bus station is a 2 minute walk from the hotel.

You get what you pay for. It was the cheapest options that we could find for 4 nights in Amsterdam, 4 nights, 400 EUR. Location super, far from noise, but still in city centre, tram station just right in front of the hotel, number 14, goes through city centre all the way to the Amsterdam Centraal Station, so PERFECT!
