Just a 1 night stop over for connecting flights, but I was very impressed by the staff at check in who were very professional, friendly and helpful. We had dinner in the restaurant and both enjoyed our meals. Service there was also very good. We loved the design f the hotel and our room was lovely, very clean and very comfortable.

Hotel is about 10minutes (shuttle bus) far from the airport, buses run every half hour,drivers are very helpful and funny.Accomodation in this hotel was of a very very high standard, nice,comfortable,quiet, luxury designed. The staff was very nice, very friendly, we didn't encounter any problem, they always helped us in everything and communicated very nicely! Restaurants are also so nice, breakfast and dinner - really perfect!For breakfast you can choose many interesting dishes, goodies, international cuisine, salmon, prosseco, sweet food, fresh friut and juice, tasty coffee... everything is fresh, crispy, dishes are constantly replenished, really perfect! The pool has warm water, you can swim till 10 P.M., white towels everywhere, clean, the staff is quiet, smiling and very nice. The rooms were cleaned every day and everywhere was clean, towels changed, cleaned, beds made-perfect! We were really excited and satisfied!:-)

I had a night layover, so this was a perfect place to stay as its inside the airport. I arrived at midnight so I wanted to go to sleep ASAP. My connecting flight was in the morning, so I slept well and was relaxed for my next flight.

Wonderful hotel at a pleasant price. It has everything you need: a private shower, soft and comfortable beds. The reception staff are very friendly and attentive to guests. I especially appreciated the wake-up call service before my flight. The location is quiet and peaceful, allowing you to have a great rest before a flight or during a layover.

Between Dutch Windmills and Flowers

The gateway to the Netherlands, Amsterdam Airport Schiphol is one of the world’s busiest international passenger terminals and is home to the Dutch national airline – KLM.

The airport sits on reclaimed land around 3 metres below sea level on the site of a former huge inland lake. In fact, the name Schiphol may mean 'ship grave', a reference to the ships that would periodically be sunk in its turbulent waters.

A train station serving many Dutch cities lies beneath the terminal building which houses a mini Rijksmuseum exhibition, reference library with multilingual books, and plenty of shops selling the ubiquitous clogs, tulip bulbs and cheese.

Booking.com’s range of Schiphol Airport hotels includes several within the airport grounds. Others are in neighbouring Hoofddorp, a town also within the area of the former lake, whose De Eersteling windmill overlooks a dike encircling a former fort.

Another windmill – the Molen van Sloten – is across a canal from Badhoevedorp on the airport’s north side. To the east the huge Amsterdamse Bos forest is a haven of peace and tranquillity (apart from the occasional aircraft!) and borders Amstelveen. To the south-west is Aalsmeer, a town set on the huge Westeinderplassen Lake, and whose massive flower auction house receives daily consignments from all over the world.

    The Shiphol Airport is our favourite airport to enter and leave Europe. The Shiphol Plaza inside the airport gives you the option to eat for the first - or the last time - depends if you're coming or going - a delicious bite of European food. You may also just land with a carry-on and start shopping for clothes there. As Shiphol offers free WiFi you're able to navigate around even if your cell phone plan is not covering Europe. The main hall is also the entrance to the train station where you can start with a train (don't forget to buy a ticket at one of the many ticket machines, or pre-book online) to Amsterdam Centraal Station in the middle of Amsterdam.

    If you are passing through Schiphol, it's usually good.

    If you are passing through Schiphol, it's usually good. They have a speed track for those making connections with a short layover at passport control. However, in the summer, they get lots of thunderstorms, and so flights don't often arrive on time. If you get stuck there, the Dutch are not particularly warm or helpful, so expect a calloused response to any requests for help, particularly from KLM and the border agents at passport control who seem suspicious about why you are in Amsterdam in the first place.

    In spite of the convenient location, and decent ammenities, there were issues with early gaining access to our room, no hot water on the bathroom sink, on both our visits, logging onto the wi-fi network, and confusion among assigned accommodation.

    I had a long overnight layover in Amsterdam, arriving after midnight, so I chose the Mercure for its convenient location in the terminal. It was a very easy check in experience and a very comfortable room, perfect for my needs.

    Due to our flight being cancelled we checked into the Sheraton overnight. The location was convenient within walking distance of the airport. Reception staff were friendly and helpful and check in was smooth. The room had all relevant amenities and was comfortable. There are a variety of restaurants but they were a bit on the expensive side. 2 diet cokes for example were €11.50 The hotel is an ideal base if you need easy access to Amsterdam airport. The rooms are well sound proofed so you are not bothered by airport noise.

    A very good and comfortable option if you travel to or from Amsterdam airport. The only negative point is that there are fewer shuttles to that particular hotel than for the other Ibis, and that coming from the airport, it is the last one to be reached. So the wait may seem long when you arrive from a long flight.
