I picked Zwolle as I didn't want to stay in a large city.
I picked Zwolle as I didn't want to stay in a large city. Zwolle proved a good choice as I travelled around by train and Zwolle had direct train connections to all the places I wanted to visit. Zwolle is a very interesting town with a good mix of historic building and it's own canal system. It also had an awry of specialist shops, if looking for retail therapy. Zwolle is a safe, lovely city, yet - there are good shopping possibilities. Many green areas, general cleanliness, not too much graffiti or stickers (compared to larger cities like Rotterdam). Beautiful city.
Beautiful city. Excellent museum of modern art, de Fundatie. Beautiful bookstore inside an old church. The best cake and chocolates in the Netherlands at Bakkerij Lindeboom. Try my three favourites: Dark chocolate filled with 5-spice, dark chocolate with cardamom filling, and the milk chocolate filled with caramel and sea salt. Try the others too. He was very helpful and explained the accommodation, breakfast etc very well. Unfortunately I took the key and had to travel back to Zwolle to return it, but Norbert was very understanding and collected it from me at the station. A lovely place and location, a 10 minute walk to the centre of Zwolle - I was highly impressed. The host provided many great tips about restaurants in the city center.
