Hardly find hotels where u can cook your own food inside. Golden hotel has mini kitchen with cooking utensils available for you to cook food inside room. Very neat and tidy. Easy check in and check out process. Always prefer to stay here whenever I visited christchurch. Near to airport as well.

Loved absolutely everything, from the well thought out design to the comfortable bed. The view from the bathtubs and even the ability to Bluetooth your own music through the room. The staff were extremely helpful from the moment I made the booking. Even organised a platter to be brought down to us to enjoy with our complimentary bottle of wine.

Stunning Natural Beauty at Your Doorstep

Dusting itself off from a series of recent earthquakes is the seriously stunning New Zealand city of Christchurch. While its old English buildings like ChristChurch Cathedral are being rebuilt, the magnificent Botanic Gardens and Hagley Park sustain its reputation as the Garden City.

Located along the Avon River, NZ’s 2nd-largest city has Victoria Square at its centre. Surrounding highlights include the Canterbury Museum and the Gothic-style Arts Centre. Sumner Beach is a favourite location for locals when the sun shines.

Out towards the spectacular harbour town of Lyttelton is the Christchurch Gondola ride where you can enjoy a sweeping view of the city.

The South Island’s capital is a good starting-off point for extreme sports such as bungee jumping and white-water rafting. The majestic Southern Alps surround the city and offer world-class ski resorts such as Methven, at the foot of Mt. Hutt.

The night life in Restaurants & Bistros is amazing with an enormous range of tastes & styles. Staff , whatever nationality are helpful & fun. Sadly the daytime sights are less so as the traditional part of the city is being overwhelmed with glass & steel black box constructions , typical of "modern" soulless architecture. Clean & tidy but meaningless. The Botanic gardens are always worth a visit even though we were slightly ahead of the roses in bloom.

A city still recovering from the 2011 earthquake. A vibrant place with lots of development, places to eat and drink, things to do and see. Worth a few days to visit if you're travelling down the east coast of NZ.

We spent three nights to give us two full days. Did a lot of walking around the river and the botanical gardens. Took a "punt" on the river which was very relaxing. Art gallery is worth a visit. Also found good places to eat and drink in the CBD.

The most we liked was all the places we could go and the short distant you could walk or go by bus. we ate at the restaurants or cooked in motel. we as a team we went sightseeing busing was great for this went out to dinner. overall so many things to do.

Christchurch is a comfortable city to visit.

Christchurch is a comfortable city to visit. It has beautiful parks, murals and sculptures everywhere, a lively dining area on New Regents Street, an extraordinary Botanical Gardens, an Arts Center, museums, lovely old buildings, and some striking new ones. It truly was a surprise for us and we enjoyed it a lot.

Surprisingly beautiful, there is plenty of trees and plants everywhere, its almost like the whole city is a park. The roads in some places are very bumpy,I guess from the earthquakes. Yummy pies in the city center, the huge church being held up by massive steel beams is a sight in itself. There were soo many places to eat,but sadly I was thinking about getting into shape. More time needed as I imagine there is some fun things to do. Theres a tunnel that takes you through the hillside to Littleton and the wharf areas ,where if you want to give your legs a great workout the steep streets will not disappoint . Fun drive over the hill and back down to sumner .

Comfy bed and great pillows Small room and no room for two suitcases if 2 travellers are stopping in. We made it work though. Convenient location. Walking distance to explore Christchurch. Wasn’t too much directly in the hotel area but super close to the cathedral. There was a restaurant downstairs but we didn’t try it. Clean, Warm, $50 taxi from the airport, tea and coffee facilities only. Small bar fridge. Enjoyed our stay here. Accommodate our late check in. Reception and housekeepers were helpful and friendly.

Budget hotel near airport - about 20min walk from room to departure lounge....less if you don't have luggage. Half the walk had covered area. If it rains may be a problem. Good for early morning flights. Countdown and mall was just next door. The mall had good selection of restaurants (Chinese, Mexican, Burger and Cafe) and fast foods (McD, KFC, Subway)

The hotel is in an excellent location for those using Christchurch airport, and it could be a base for other activities being only 15 mins drive to downtown Christchurch. The airport is within an easy walk and a supermarket and food outlets are also nearby. The rooms are comfortable and quiet.
