Small quiet area - for bird photographers: the famous Mirador is good from dawn until about 830am (JUNE - we don't know about other months)...by 830am, Condors are heading up the Canyon - so the Mirador is not good for Condors after that time. In Covid times, it was hard to get to Cabanaconde.
In Covid times, it was hard to get to Cabanaconde. There is only one official bus (Andalucia) and it departs from Arequipa very early or too late. There are also collectivos people can take to get there (local buses). Once there, the village is great, people are so helpful and the hikes are amazing! Please not there is no where to take money out, you absolutely need cash for everything.Guest review bySachaCanada

Property is well taken care of with the pool being cleaned in the morning and a big terrace to chill on. Lodge itself was nice, but the shower was not spectacularly hot nor was the bed very comfortable. Most people will stay here after a hike in the Colca Canyon. You can enjoy the hot tubs after a long day of walking. The host was super friendly and did everything to make us feel right at home. Happy with the vegetarian option for dinner and the breakfast time was flexible. Also a taxi to Cabanaconde can be arranged.
