FAQs about hotels in Cusco

Timeless Incan Capital

Although it's considered the oldest inhabited city of the Americas and Peru's historical capital, neither of these truly describes the magic enchantment and colorful people of Cuzco. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, its current shape is the colonial result of building on top of many Incan sites, a good example of which is the Cathedral of Santo Domingo.

Must-see places include the walled complex of Sacsayhuamán and the remains of the main temple of Coricancha, dedicated to the Sun God, Inti. For longer Cuzco stays, hotels nePlaza de Armas central square are ideal to fully enjoy the city. Due to its 11,150-foot altitude, some Cuzco hotels offer oxygen to help their guests.

Moray, supposedly an ancient experimental agricultural station, is 29 miles away, and Lake Titicaca is 240 miles away. The road to Machu Picchu is the famous Inca Trail or "Camino Inca," which encompasses settlements, different Andean environments, and many Incan ruins.

Alejandro Velasco Astete International Airport offers services to Lima. Arriving at Wanchaq Train Station or Terminal Terrestre de Cusco bus station are also popular choices. Come to visit the ancient jewel, enjoy Peru and Cuzco with the hotel deals available on Booking.com!

The historic centre is beautiful - lovely buildings everywhere and is great to just amble around and take a break in the Plazas. There are tons of restaurants to suit all budgets too. We only stayed for 2 nights but should’ve stayed for 4, seeing as there are so many trips you can go to from Cusco.

A visit to Cusco centers on its vibrant, historic core.

A visit to Cusco centers on its vibrant, historic core. Expect the area to be bustling, but the rewards are countless, from exploring the preserved architecture to dining at exceptional restaurants that highlight Peru's acclaimed cuisine. A quick tip for navigating the city: the heavy traffic means diesel fumes can occasionally be strong. Finally, take advantage of the superb shopping opportunities for unique souvenirs. You might even want to buy an inexpensive bag locally to handle all your purchases on the flight back.

City with great historical interest and gateway to Macchu Picchu. Very lively and busy place, easy to navigate for museums, restaurants with local Peruvian food, shops for good souvenirs or just people watching. Some parts are very hilly; cobble stoned pedestrianised areas were tough on the feet. Lots of peddlars selling local products but they do not pester you if you politely say no thanks.

Cusco has a vibrant festive energy.

Cusco has a vibrant festive energy. What once was the capital of the Incan Empire is well worth a few days to explore. On Sundays they have a parade in the Casa De Armas where civil servants gather and are celebrated with Music from marching bands etc. There are quality shops for souvenirs with Alpaca and Baby Alpaca clothing and accessories being the more luxury of options. There is ancient architecture wherever you look.

Cusco was a phenomenal city to visit.

Cusco was a phenomenal city to visit. So much culture, great food, good weather, and all of the people are super kind. Things to know: 1) The tourist ticket is great but only lets you in to each place once. So, if you take a tour which gets you a short visit and you want to explore further later on your own, you’ll have to pay the entire 75sol again for each such place 2) Elevation sickness is no joke, go slow on day one and rest/sleep a lot. Pack Advil as it is very helpful 3) DO NOT buy anything on tours. Everything is like 5 times cheaper at the warehouse in the center of Cusco 4) Make use of your hotels/air-bnbs - they were a great help when it came to travelling to different locations

As Cuzco's main attraction Macchu Pichu is crowded, for more daring & in-some-kind of physical shape travelers with extra time may want to explore 5-day trip to much less crowded Choquequirao. Ex, Average visitors 3,500/day v 36/day.

Wow this place is amazing! After months backpacking it was a real treat to spend a little extra on a proper hotel and this place is worth it. All the staff we exceptional especially the male receptionist who went above and beyond to make our stay special. The rooms are lovely, with TV and best shower we’ve had in South America. The breakfast was really good . Location is ideal being in San Blas - the trendy area of Cusco!

The location is simply amazing, a few blocks to the Plaza and right next to the San Blas neighbourhood, its walkable from essentially everywhere. The staff was super welcoming and helpful, the breakfast absolutely delicious, and the hotel is beautiful as well. Overall, very happy and highly recommend Amaru and also their location in Urubamba.

Charming hotel in San Blas neighborhood with a tree-filled inner courtyard. Really peaceful and quiet atmosphere. The rooms are great and with hot showers. The breakfast is really good. We were there with our children and we recommend the hotel and the San Blas area is really the place to go.

The property is located on the edge of the San Blas neighbourhood. The hotel is great value for money and the breakfast is nice. When we had early tours the reception staff made us breakfast packs to take out with us and helped to arrange a free taxi to the hotel on arrival.
