Pisac is a great place to acclimatize if you are coming into the highlands from Lima or Amazon basin. It is charming small town with lots of historical interest. Archeological Pisak is well worth spending some time on. The Pisac archeological park is very interesting and takes 2 - 4 hours to see. Take the taxi up to the site and consider walking down back to the townsite through the park to see additional ruins. Look no further for accommodations in Pisac!
Look no further for accommodations in Pisac! This is by far the best choice. Casa de Oren is just outside of the town and the proprietors will provide transportation from Pisac to their hotel. The rooms are spacious and very comfortable with balconies overlooking the beautiful garden.They serve a delicious three course breakfast included in the price and offer very tasty and affordable dinner options. Four of us stayed there for four nights and ate dinner there each night (huge portions). The hosts are very attentive and hard working and attend promptly to requests. Pisac is a must for the Incan ruins. They are vast and well-maintained. The views of the valley are amazing. Take a taxi up to the top and hike down. The town itself is a bit unusual. It's got a hippie vibe. Eco blended with wellness and expats. it's very different than other towns we visited. It's also a very sleepy town. Nothing opens before 8:00, even the coffee shops, and many places open at 10:00. The restaurants aren't open that late either.Guest review byinteractive3United States - 8.0
The ruins were expansive and high up.
The ruins were expansive and high up. The 1.5 hour hike down from the ruins was one of the highlights of our trip. We ate at a Pizza place recommended by the hotel. It was great. Did not see a lot of other restaurant options. The town has some cool narrow cobble stone alleys and a nice plaza. We took a collectivo to Cusco on our way out of town. A great, cheap way to travel. Were looking for one up to the ruins but did not find one because we were at the wrong end of the bridge over the river. You need to walk across the bridge to catch the collectivos. One night in town was about right. Ended up in a slightly more expensive taxi for the ride up to the ruins. The walking through Pisac ruins is a fantastic experience - you should go by taxi to the upper entrance and walk down to the exit at the city center. The city itself is small, but very nice, with many good silver and crafts shops, and a fine botanic garden. The rooms are not located in the city centre but colectivos pass regularly and they are cheap. They own the garden across the street and made sure we got a tour of the garden and potato museum. There is so much rich history and love in this hotel. Breakfast was delicious and at their cafe overlooking the garden. The showers were hot with good pressure and the wifi was excellent.
