    Nothing much but surfing. Some popular restaurants are hype.

    Nothing much but surfing. Some popular restaurants are hype. The French bakery near the Surf area serves really really good breadz croissants, sourdough and other food. The burger place we went to is much much better than shake shack. The coffee place we tried serves much much better coffee than starbucks and zus.

    Surigao is recovering from damage caused by typhoon Odette.

    Surigao is recovering from damage caused by typhoon Odette. I suggest waiting a year or so before visiting here. It was rainy and windy during our visit so not fair to comment. Did not feel safe to walk around at night. We observed many blatant drug users along the Seawall opposite our hotel.

    Oddly enough my stay in Surigao was a highlight of my trip. Loved this recently renovated hotel right in the center of town. The room was comfortable, the staff friendly and offers nice breakfast options. The chef was so kind to serve me extra pancakes! Going around town as a westerner was an unforgettable experience. The people were so kind, and loved being photographed.

    The location is walking distance to the port. It's convenient if you're travelling from Surigao City to Dapa (Siargao). Oh, and they provide free toiletries, wifi is good, there are lots of canteens in the neighborhood.

    The Barnhaus is secluded and serene. Great for a weekend getaway. We contacted them for a private boat from Surigao City port. The facilities were superb and tidy, complete with a kitchen, beddings and towels.
