Great central location, 5 minute walk down to the sea, activities, restaurants etc. The hotel is fresh, clean, has a roof top pool and bar for the moments when you aren’t sightseeing. And the staff are so friendly and helpful. Fab buffet breakfast.

Absolutely loved this hotel! Location, the room design, really good bedding, breakfast, cleanliness- all perfect. It was also very quiet. The person who worked on reception was very welcoming and I felt special. Will definitely stay there if return to Madeira.

The location is just stunning. The Maisonette Suites have everything you look for. Shower & toilet on both floors, 2 nice terraces. The infinity pool has always lots of free sunbeds & is so beautiful. The staff is very helpful and natural. They have fun working and it leads to great interactions. The Avista Restaurant is just spectacular. The food (breakfasts & dinners) mindblowing. The views on the Atlantic above the cliff - no words. We will be back! 100%. Thank you for a great week.

    Great city, super restaurants & beautiful botanic gardens. We spent a week there but 3-4 days would have been enough. Heading to a different location woikd have been a good idea, perhaps a small village in the mountains. Hopefully next time!!!

    The weather/climate was just perfect.

    The weather/climate was just perfect. We went in mid September but apparently it's like that all year round. We found the restaurant and shop staff very friendly and didn't mind that we were English and couldn't speak Portuguese. Really easy to get around by taxi - Bolt and Uber were half the price of the yellow taxis. Food and drink were reasonably priced.

    Beautiful nature all around the island. Exceed expectations. Great, varied and value for money restaurants. Great public transport network and everywhere was safe to walk around. Definitely recommend all the excursions available all at very reasonable prices Lovely people. Lots to do but also ok to relax.

    Our first visit to Madeira and our 10 night stay in Funchal was excellent. It exceeded our high expectations. The West and East full-day bus tours of the island were excellent, as was the 3 hour trip on the Santa Maria de Colombo, a replica Christopher Columbus sailing ship. The other sights we thoroughly enjoyed included the Monte Palace via cable car, Botanical Garden, Cathedral and Bell Tower, the historic area of Funchal and slightly further away, Camara de Lobos.

    Friendly island. Beautiful landscape. Amazing food! Hidden villages. Narrow roads. Water fountains. Loved Camara dos Lobos, the streets are beautifully decorated. Loved the different Ponchas. Loved the safety feeling when walking early hours of the morning back to the hotel.

    The only one real "city" on Madeira, very lovely, green, excellent choice of places for breakfast and dinner. Prices are also better than everywhere on an island. The cable car and Monte park are exceptional. You would probably spend more time travelling around the island than in Funchal itself. But transport connectivity is the best from Funchal as well, especially if you take buses

    This is my favourite hotel I’ve stayed at while visiting Madeira. I have visited three years in a row now, and at this point I wouldn’t want to stay at any other hotel. The hotel staff is lovely, always helpful and polite. The cleaning staff is great and the place is always clean. The rooftop bar and pool is top notch. I travel with my two small dogs, and it has always felt safe to stay with them at this hotel. Can’t wait to be back again next year! 10/10 would recommend to this to anyone looking for a relaxing hotel to stay at.
