On the hottest day 38C, we arrived early and Isabel kindly allowed us to check in early. Much appreciated. The accommodation was 💯 spotless!! As hikers we appreciated the kettle, fridge and washing line with pegs on the balcony.

We had an absolutely wonderful stay! The location is pure wilderness, surrounded by nature, with breathtaking, unpolluted night skies full of stars. The breakfasts were fantastic, and the hosts are incredibly warm and welcoming. Al has amazing stories about wine and offers a great wine tasting experience, while Ana prepares delicious meals and is super helpful with tips on what to see in the area. The design of the place is stunning, the mattresses and bedding are top-notch, and everything feels truly first-class. It’s a unique spot, definitely worth visiting. We highly recommend it! The location and the awesome view. It’s like an eagle’s nest with 360° panoramic view over Algarve hills. And the location is so quiet. Our hosts extended great hospitality, and they walked the extra mile to make us feel at home. They even met and greeted us on the main road and showed us the way to their property. This is first class service. Superb breakfast with delicious homemade croissants.

Gisela and Tiago are excellent hosts. They looked after all our needs and provided us recommendations for local hikes (including on their own large property, with their German Shepherd, Jonas, as a guide) and restaurants, served delicious breakfasts to our room and were always available to answer questions or to simply chat. The property, set in a park reserve, is scenic and serene. The room is rustic and comfortable, with open wood beams and equipped with a cooktop, refrigerator, pots and pans and cutlery. The bed is the most comfortable I have ever slept in. The deck outside the room overlooks a forest. Gisela and Tiago strive to live in an ecologically friendly way, close to nature, and rely mainly on solar power. We highly recommend Herdade da Maceira.

The service is just perfect. All the people in the Quinta are there ready to help and arrange what you need. The territory is lovely: two pools, bar, children playground, trampoline, hammock to chill. I also liked that they have children gymnastics in the morning! Very nice, definetly recommend!

    I don’t expect all hotels to be accessible for the elderly...

    I don’t expect all hotels to be accessible for the elderly or disabled but I do believe booking.com should clearly indicate when a facility is NOT suitable for us. The photos and description of Casa da Umbria were accurate but didn’t tell the whole truth. I can normally make it up the 13-15 stairs to reach a first floor walk-up especially if there’s a good handrail. I didn’t expect to have to climb steep cobblestone walkways followed by 34 steps without a handrail ending in a death-defying 90 degree spiral-type turn to get to the front door. Then there were all the other defects noted in my review. The hostess prepared a wonderful breakfast and helped us schedule a taxi and bus to our next destination but she became very defensive when I mentioned the stairs so I shut up and didn’t even try to suggest anything else. I can’t say anything for or against Odemira in general because I was essentially trapped in our room until we left.

    Everything was excellent and Alice is the best host on planet earth. Super friendly, amazing breakfast, outstanding location (much better than all 5* hotels we had prior to this boutique place). I tend to say I don‘t recommend it because otherwise it‘s always fully booked when we want to return ;-) …a must visit when traveling through Portugal and definitely worthwhile to stay more fhan just 1 night because there is so many things to do in the area
