Lovely place for a short break. Might be a bit too "up and down" for some people. Beware the steps :). Plenty to see & do in Porto & within easy reach. Good mix of culture, art, architecture, food, shopping, history, a beach, some great views, a bit of everything. Going about in the old city is very convenient - everything is basically within walking distance. But be prepared for lots of slopes! There's barely any flat surfaces except along the river side! Taxis are cheap and readily available. A lot of constructions are going on and roads might be closed. Foods are good and inexpensive, especially the wines. We walked everywhere but had we stayed longer we would have explored further out. Loved the cable car trip back up to the top. Would suggest skipping the 6 bridges your unless you really want to. Lovely city lots to see. We were extraordinarily lucky with the weather. The city centre area especially by the river becomes extremely busy. We found most cafes and restaurants offered similar menus only the prices differed. People mainly very friendly. Indoor Bolhao market is a must.
